Formula E launches a new ‘Sonic Identity’ (album)

Formula E - Change Accelerated - Abbey Road Orchestra

Ahead of the Hyderabad E-Prix weekend, Formula E has developed a new main intro theme for the racing series, alongside a ‘sonic identity’.

Season 9 has brought the debut of the Gen3 era, and along with it new teams, drivers, and circuits. But as Formula E takes a step forward in the series’ evolution, there is a renewed focus on broadcast quality. As part of that initiative, they have created a brand new sound suite to be used throughout race weekends and on their digital channels.

The new main title was first revealed during the Mexico City E-Prix in January. The new collection of music was aided by live recordings of the new NIO333 and Mahindra Racing Gen3 cars. ‘Change. Accelerated‘ was composed by Tom Player and recorded live with a 55-piece orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

The music will be joined this weekend by a new intro video package for the Hyderabad E-Prix. Have a listen to the new Formula E main title below:

Henry Chilcott, the Chief Marketing Officer for Formula E, stated:

“This has been a year of renewal for Formula E – new GEN3 race car, new teams, new look, and new sound. The music score and soundscape sets the tone for the entire fan experience. Working with Lost Track Productions and Machine Sound, our ambition was to create a bold new anthem for our sport as part of our newly launched brand identity.  The library of music composed by Tom Player is designed to work like a film score evoking different emotions to enhance the race weekend experience from opening broadcast titles right the way through to the live podium celebrations.”

Change Accelerated – The Album

Beyond using the new soundscape for race weekends, Formula E has released a 7-track album titled ‘Change. Accelerated (The Official Formula E Soundtrack)‘. You can find the full album on Amazon Music, Spotify, and Apple Music. Here is a full track listing:
