Red Bull Racing launched their 2023 livery for the RB19 in New York City and announced their new partnership with Ford.

Following Haas’s 2023 car launch, Red Bull is the second team to unveil their livery for the upcoming season.

The RB19 Livery

If you were to compare it with their past liveries, despite some new partners on the car, not much has changed. Once again, they stuck to their classic blue-red-yellow color scheme and even the design looks relatively the same. Max Verstappen stated,

“I think our livery has been pretty similar for the last couple of years now. But actually, I always find it a cool looking car. It really shows you the Red Bull colors all over the place and we had a lot of success like that so why do we need to change it up a lot?“

Ranking the design

Their livery looks good, even if there is no innovation this season. The Red Bull livery might be one of the most iconic and famous designs in F1 history. Red Bull does a great job integrating the sponsors on their car, the placements work well with the overall design. As expected, Red Bull didn‘t come up with a brand-new livery. We‘ve seen the same look for several years now. That doesn‘t necessarily mean it‘s a bad one, but the effort put into it seems a bit disappointing if you compare it to other teams.

Grade: 6/10

Ford returns to F1

A partnership between the American car manufacturer Ford and the Red Bull team was announced during the car launch. Their partnership will start immediately with technical support this season. Then from 2026 on, Ford will provide engines for Red Bull and their sister team AlphaTauri. 2026 will also be the beginning of a next-gen hybrid power unit.

The last time we saw Ford in Formula 1 was back in 2004. The rising popularity of the sport in America and F1’s sustainability goals made the return for Ford possible. Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, said,

“Ford is returning to the pinnacle of sport, bringing its long tradition of innovation, sustainability and electrification into one of the most visible showcases in the world.”

Special liveries in 2023

Christian Horner, Team Principal, announced that there would be special liveries for all three US races during the 2023 season. Starting now, fans can submit their designs for a possible livery at one of those events on the Red Bull Racing website. Maybe a never-done-before livery by Red Bull will come sooner than expected.
