F3: Belgian Grand Prix Qualifying, disaster for Isack Hadjar

Caio Collet - F3

Disaster for the top three in the F3 championship standings as Caio Collet sets his first pole of the season.

With F3 returning from the summer break, there is no better track for the young drivers to dust off their skills than at the historic Spa-Francorchamps. Better yet, a rain-soaked Spa-Francorchamps.

With Oliver Bearman lighting up the time screens early on, teammate Jak Crawford’s qualifying ended in disaster as he spun into the gravel which caused a red flag. Crawford will start last for both the Sprint and the Feature Race. Bearman qualified P8 while the final PREMA teammate Arthur Leclerc qualified a disastrous P20.

Championship leader Isack Hadjar qualified P23 after his engine cut at the end of qualifying while rival Victor Martins qualified P24 after a difficult qualifying. Both drivers will have to find their overtaking abilities if they want a chance at securing any points this weekend.

F3 Qualifying Results

MP Motorsport driver Caio Collet took his first pole of the season for the Feature Race followed by Trident’s Zane Malony. Zak O’Sullivan will be on pole for the Sprint race with Juan Manuel Correa in P2 as the F3 field reverses the top 12 on Saturday.

  1. Caio Collet
  2. Zane Maloney
  3. Francesco Pizzi
  4. Oliver Goethe
  5. Roman Stanek
  6. Jonny Edgar
  7. Alex Smolyer
  8. Oliver Bearman
  9. Franco Colapint
  10. Bran Benavidas
  11. Juan Manuel Correa

Saturday’s Sprint Race will kick off a series of six races over the next three weekends. Following Spa, F3 ventures to Zandvoort before finishing their season at Monza. With the Championship race tied between Hadjar and Martins, and Leclerc only nine points back, we should be in for a very interesting pair of races this weekend.
