Lewis Hamilton Returns – FIA Enquiry update

Lewis Hamilton FIA Enquiry

Lewis Hamilton is set to return to Formula One after doubts about the Brit’s future following his Abu Dhabi heartbreak. The FIA enquiry is finally making significant progress…

The seven time champion of the world saw his eighth title slip out of his hands on the last lap of the season. He couldn’t have done anything to stop it. Susie Wolff, CEO of Venturi racing, released a scathing statement of the controversy. ‘Robbed’ sums up how she felt on the outcome at the end of the race. Michael Masi appeared to cave to Red Bull’s request to change the rules.

Several drivers have delivered their verdict on the controversies, with the general consensus that it wasn’t right what happened. Lance Stroll spoke out more recently on the events that transpired.

Hamilton took a social media break and has finally returned. He’s shared images that show what he’s been up to and has since shown his work out routine. He’s been going on early morning runs with his physio/trainer, Angela Cullen.

Mercedes Announcement

After the wall of silence from Hamilton, Mercedes finally announced his return.

It appears the driver deemed the ‘best of all time’ is back to fight for that record breaking eighth World Crown. This news is music to the ears of anyone who’s part of Team LH.

His unbelievable charity work away from the track helped spark retirement rumours. There were theories he would focus on this after the season finale left him ‘disillusioned’ with the sport, as were many of his fans.

Max Verstappen will defend his maiden title while Hamilton is hungry to be an eight time world champion. 2022 is set to be another rollercoaster season. The new regulations will be interesting to see how the teams have adapted.

Hamilton will be without his ‘best teammate’ this season. Valtteri Bottas departs Mercedes a five time Constructor’s Champion. Hamilton’s new teammate, exciting Brit George Russell at the Silver Arrows will present them with a new look team this season. Toto Wolff has selected the lineup as he looks for an unprecedented nine titles in a row!

FIA Enquiry

Wolff has been busy this week, joining Christian Horner in London. They’re finding out the results of the FIA enquiry into what actually happened in those minutes of madness at the end of the season.

Michael Masi’s decision making ‘tarnished‘ the sport. Changes are needed to avoid such things happening in the future. Both Wolff and Horner left the meeting in high spirits.

The FIA have released their initial report already. They confirmed a restructure of Sprint Qualifying, the full Abu Dhabi debrief is set to be released soon.
