Kyle Larson loses World of Outlaws team Sponsor in Chevrolet

Chip Ganassi Racing announced on Monday morning that Kyle Larson would be fired from his position with the NASCAR Cup team.

Now, the main sponsor of Larson’s NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series team in Chevrolet has done the same.

Kyle Larson loses World of Outlaws team Sponsor in Chevrolet

Chevrolet released a statement regarding their decision:

“As previously stated, Chevrolet does not tolerate the inappropriate behavior exhibited by Kyle Larson. As a result, Chevrolet is immediately terminating its relationship with Mr. Larson.”

With this, goes the concerns of Carson Macedo, who races full time with the World of Outlaws for Kyle Larson Racing.

Macedo was a five-time feature winner in the top tiered sprint car series for Larson, and sat in fifth in the points standings before the season was delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States.

Chip Ganassi Racing released this statement this morning regarding its decision to let go of Larson:

“After much consideration, Chip Ganassi Racing has determined that it will end its relationship with driver Kyle Larson. As we said before, the comments that Kyle made were both offensive and unacceptable especially given the values of our organization. As we continued to evaluate the situation with all the relevant parties, it became obvious that this was the only appropriate course of action to take.“

The next NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event is currently scheduled to take place on May 1 in Lawton, Oklahoma at Lawton Speedway.

Whether that race ends up being ran or not, Macedo’s hopes of racing this season – at least in Larson’s World of Outlaws sprint car – could be in serious doubt.
