On Thursday afternoon, WCYB news reported that Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s plane made a crash-landing in Carter County, Tennessee.

The crash happened right off of Highway 91 at the Elizabethon Municipal Airport.

The Elizabethton Fire Chief, Barry Carrier, did confirm, however, that everyone involved in the crash survived and no serious injuries were sustained.

The Federal Aviation Administration posted a press release saying that there were three passengers on the plane with two pilots.

The jet carrying them was a Cessna Citation Model 680, according to Buisness Insider’s research of the event.

Some members of the media have posted pictures on twitter of the plane off of the side of the road.

Earnhardt Jr.’s wife, Amy, and Daughter, Isla, were also in the plane along with two pilots when it crashed.

Kelley Earnhardt confirmed the news that all are okay in a tweet:

“I can confirm Dale, Amy & Isla along with his two pilots were involved in a crash in Bristol TN this afternoon. Everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation. We have no further information at this time. Thank you for your understanding.”

Earnhardt Jr. finished off his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career with 26 wins and 260 Top 10 finishes before retiring after the 2015 season.

He is planning on making his return to NASCAR in the No. 8 NASCAR Xfinity Series car for his own team, JR Motorsports, at Darlington when the series visits the track on Saturday, August 31.

Earnhardt Jr.’s Xfinity Series team will be competing in Friday’s Bristol Race with four drivers taking to the one-mile track. Michael Annett, Justin Allgaier, Noah Gragson, and Jeb Burton are scheduled to compete for him on Friday night.

Last Word On Motorsport will pass on more information as it becomes available to us.
