Five Drivers finish on lead lap as Ty Majeski wins ARCA race at Pocono

Majeski wins ARCA race

Five drivers finished on the lead lap in the ARCA Menards Series race at Pocono on Friday afternoon after a blistering pace was set early in the race by the No. 18 of Riley Herbst.

Although, it was Ty Majeski leading the field to the checkered flag in the General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible 200.

“[Majeski] is a hell of a talent,” crew chief Paul Andrews said on the Fox Sports 2 broadcast after the race. “We’ve always known that. We’ve got a lot of faith in him.”

Harrison Burton started out on the pole, but it was evident not even a full lap into the race that Hebrst had the car to beat.

He passed Burton and didn’t look back, leading throughout the first green flag stint.

Burton held a close second place, trailing Herbst by a couple of seconds, but would come down pit road for an unscheduled pit stop due to a flat right front tire on lap 18.

The caution would come out 10 laps later to allow Burton to get back on the lead lap, but he could never mount another charge to the front.

Herbst had led Majeski by 13 seconds before the caution had come out and even put a 50-second cushion between himself and the fifth-place car.

The No. 18 crew made adjustments to the car during the series of pit stops under caution that actually slowed the car down a bit.

That allowed Majeski to keep the pace and eventually take the lead on lap 69, after green-flag pit stops cycled through.

The victory was Majeski’s second in a row, after he won at Charlotte just eight days ago.

Points leader Michael Self finished 11th after his alternator failed, but held his lead in the standings over Bret Holmes finished fifth.

The series returns to the track at Michigan International Speedway next Friday (June 7) in a race that will be televised on Fox Sports 1. Green flag is scheduled to fly at 6:15 p.m. ET.
