Daniel Ricciardo Is Max Verstappen’s Best Teacher Says Horner

At the beginning of the season, many people were expecting a battle in Red Bull‘s garage for supremacy between Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo. A lot of fans and pundits gave the advantage to the Dutchman in that contest. But as things stand right now, Ricciardo is ahead and it’s not even close.

Daniel Ricciardo Is Max Verstappen’s Best Teacher Says Christian Horner

Verstappen has been error-prone since the first race. It is fair to say that Ricciardo has always been on top in 2018.

Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing Team Principal, said that the Australian is a “very good teacher” for Verstappen. During his current woes, car number 33 has been involved in some kind of incident in every weekend so far.

He said: “Max has an abundance of talent and had some harsh lessons this year. I think a modified approach will benefit him. The Monaco weekend (when he crashed during FP3 and had to start last as Ricciardo won the race from Pole) was very painful for him.”

Verstappen is in his fourth season in F1, his third season with Red Bull and has scored 35 points in 2018, whilst Ricciardo has 72 points. Ricciardo leads him 4-3 in wins since Verstappen was promoted to Red Bull. Also, the Australian leads 19-12 in podiums, and 2-0 in Pole Positions.

2018 championship resumes this weekend with the Formula 1 Grand Prix Heineken Du Canada 2018 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
