City Of Miami Set To Negotiate With Formula 1 Over Potential Race

Day by day, the concept of Formula 1 hosting a race in Miami is slowly starting to come to fruition. The press release put out by the Commission stated that the current goal is to be the host for a race from 2019 to 2028.

City Of Miami Set To Negotiate With Formula 1 Over Potential Race

Both Parties Enthusiastic After Ruling

Eugene Ramirez, the Director of Communications for Miami, provided Last Word on Motorsport with a quote on the recent happenings, stating “Formula One, like the City of Miami, has global appeal. The Miami area is already host to numerous world-renown sporting events and we look forward to reaching an agreement that is a win for Miami and racing enthusiasts.”

Formula One also published a statement today, showing that they are excited to do business with Miami. In the article, Sean Bratches, Managing Director Commercial Operations, for F1 said “Formula 1 in Miami represents a fantastic opportunity to bring the greatest racing spectacle on the planet to one of the world’s most iconic cities, and we are delighted that the journey is underway.”

Proposed Miami Track Faces Critics

The current version of the track that has been put out is based around many landmark locations in Miami. The track heads around the American Airlines Arena, Bayfront Park, and crosses a bridge, heading to Port Miami.

Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton likes the idea of hosting a race in Miami, but doesn’t like the current track setup. He recently even offered his help in a possible second version of the track. When asked about it this week, he compared the situation to golf, and how in golf the pros have influence on golf courses.

Formula One and people on the City of Miami Commission are both very enthusiastic about this potential partnership. While nothing is certain, the future is looking bright for Miami racing fans, and for a potential race in Miami.
