Luca Ghiotto has been stripped of his maiden Formula 2 victory at Monza after receiving a post-race penalty. The penalty was handed to the Italian after the FIA found that he gained an unfair advantage by exceeding track limits in the closing stages of the race, cutting the first chicane on the final lap.

This resulted in the Russian Time driver being handed a five second time penalty and as a result, Antonio Fuoco has been promoted to first place, meaning that he has secured his maiden Formula 2 win at his home race in Italy.
After the application of the penalty, Ghiotto was demoted to fourth place, meaning that Nobuharu Matsushita finished in second and Nicholas Latifi was promoted to the podium after starting down in 14th.
Ghiotto was not the only driver who was handed a penalty post-race, and Alexander Albon also fell victim to the stewards after causing a collision with Norman Nato on the final lap. Albon originally finished in fifth, but a ten second time penalty demotes him out of the points, meaning that he finished in 14th place. This promoted Sean Gelael to fifth, followed by Sergio Sette Camara, Louis Deletraz, Gustav Malja who will start on reverse grid pole for the Sprint Race, Artem Markelov and Jordan King.
Nyck de Vries was also handed a drive through penalty for causing a collision with Charles Leclerc on the final lap, although the Dutchman failed to finish the race. This meant that the drive through was converted to a 20 second time penalty.
