As Sauber has confirmed this deal, it will mean that its long term collaboration with Ferrari as an engine supplier will continue, having used engines from the Italian outfit for a total of 17 years.

The most important part of this deal is that the team will be using the latest specification of power unit produced by Ferrari for next season, which will without doubt mean that Sauber will have improved performance next season. This is something that the team has been in need of for a long time, having been at the back of the grid since Formula 1 entered its V6 age in 2014.

Talking about the signing of this deal, Frederic Vasseur said: “I am very pleased to confirm that we will continue to work with Scuderia Ferrari as our engine supplier in form of a multi-year agreement. The shared experience between the Sauber F1 Team and Ferrari has built a strong foundation, which will allow us to move forward swiftly and efficiently, also in terms of the development of the 2018 car.

“I am convinced that together we can achieve the results which reflect the passion and determination that is, and always has been, behind the Sauber F1 Team.”
