Haas F1 confirm Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen for 2018

Haas F1 has confirmed Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen as its drivers for 2018. This was revealed by team owner Gene Haas, who announced that the American outfit will be keeping its current driver lineup for next season.

Haas F1 confirm Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen for 2018

“We will run with the same drivers that we have this year again next year,” said Haas when speaking to Formula1.com. “That is a given. And given the other continuity aspects, we should be better racers next season.”

“Kevin can grab points and Romain can too,” he added. “We now have 29 points. Last year around this time we also had 29 points, but did not score for the rest of the season. So now if we can score another 29 points by Abu Dhabi, that would be a great position.”

Haas made its debut in 2016 with Romain Grosjean and Esteban Gutierrez behind the wheel. After a disappointing season for Gutierrez which saw him fail to finish inside the points in a single race, Kevin Magnussen was signed to replace the Mexican racer.

With both Grosjean and Magnussen confirmed for another season at the team, speculation has ceased about Antonio Giovinazzi or Charles Leclerc joining the team for 2018, with both drivers being linked to the team due to their connections with Ferrari – Haas F1’s engine supplier.

Heading into its third season of competition, Haas believes that it is time to go into business, and that the “honeymoon period” is now over: “I would say the honeymoon is over,” said Haas. “Now comes the tricky part of living together! F1 is a challenge, it is not easy – coming to a race every second weekend and seeing opportunities slipping away and you know that you have to work harder to achieve what you want.”
