Red Bull Racing have become the latest Formula 1 team to unveil their 2017 car, the RB13.
The Red Bull RB13 will be driven by Daniel Ricciardo who remains with the team for the fourth year in succession, and by Max Verstappen who joined the team following the demotion of Daniil Kvyat to Toro Rosso at the start of the 2016 Season.
For 2017, Red Bull will be aiming to close the gap to reigning World Champions, Mercedes. Following the new aerodynamic regulations of the 2017 Formula 1 Season, many consider Red Bull Racing to be possible title contenders this year, with aerodynamics being a very strong area for the team. Regardless of aerodynamic performance however, a lot of focus will still remain on the team’s 2017 power unit, with the team once again using Tag Heuer branded Renault engines.
With Renault claiming to have made an improvement of three tenths of a second per lap in engine performance, many eyes will look on curiously over the course of pre-season testing to see if the Renault engine can deliver to expectations following an engine failure for Toro Rosso earlier this week after six laps of running.
The RB13 features a number of similar aerodynamic aspects that other teams have adopted for the 2017 season, having a more angular front wring, larger barge boards and the use of a ‘shark fin’. The team are also using a ‘thumb’ nose design, very similar to the design that the team used in 2016.
