The Williams FW40 will be driven by Felipe Massa and F1’s latest rookie, Lance Stroll. The driver line up for the team however has gone through considerable changes over the course of the last season, with the team initially confirming its drivers to be Valtteri Bottas and Lance Stroll. Following the unexpected retirement of Nico Rosberg at Mercedes, Bottas then left Williams, joining the Silver Arrows for 2017. This then forced Felipe Massa to come out of his short retirement after the Brazilian F1 veteran announced his departure from the sport at the Italian Grand Prix.

Like the other cars released over the course of the last week, the Williams FW40 features a number of similar properties, particularly in the case of the ‘thumb’ nose which has been adopted by Sauber, Renault, Force India, McLaren, and Ferrari alike. The car also features the ‘shark fin’ design that other teams are using. In the rendered images released of the FW40 last week however, the car featured a similar engine cover that had been used by the team in recent years.

For 2017, Williams once again sport their iconic white livery for their title sponsor, Martini.

The Williams FW40 will have its first outing on track on the first day of pre-season testing next week at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.
