The NBA’s official return to NBC is less than a week away, along with Peacock’s debut of the league’s coverage. NBC Sports has officially revealed their broadcasting assignments for the first two weeks of the 2025-2026 season.
Mike Tirico will lead as the primary play-by-play announcer, joined by analysts Reggie Miller and Jamal Crawford for the season opener featuring the Houston Rockets vs Oklahoma City Thunder on October 21. While NBC states it has no designated top broadcast crew, Tirico, Miller, and Crawford are expected to cover the Western Conference Finals later this season.
New names in new places
NBC’s game coverage will also include analysis from Grant Hill, Robbie Hummel, Austin Rivers, Derek Fisher, Brian Scalabrine, Robbie Hummel and Brad Daugherty. Besides Tirico, additional play-by-play broadcasters include Noah Eagle, Terry Gannon and Michael Grady.
Hummel and Rivers will be a part of NBC’s innovative “On the Bench” broadcasts, which will air on Mondays on Peacock. Both Hummel and Rivers will make their debut on October 27 for the Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons matchup, along with Eagle.
Courtside reporters include Zora Stephenson, Jordan Cornette, Ashley ShahAhmadi, Grant Liffmann, and John Fanta. Stephenson will join Tirico, Miller, and Crawford for the Oklahoma City opener.
NBC’s studio team is led by Maria Taylor, host of Football Night in America, returning to NBA coverage after hosting ESPN’s NBA Countdown. Ahmed Fareed will serve as secondary host, joined by analysts Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady. Rivers and Scalabrine will also contribute as studio analysts.
A spectacular move
Michael Jordan will appear as a special contributor. Chris Mannix and Grant Liffmann will serve as NBC’s NBA insiders.
