ESPN has knack for identifying media talent among former athletes and coaches. This is true of two-time Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, who made a name for himself during his playing days as a phenomenal college quarterback. After a brief NFL career, Tebow attempted to play professional baseball. However, he did not pan out in the minor league system of the New York Mets.
Since his playing days ended, Tebow has been a college football analyst for ESPN. On Monday morning, the sports media company made a signfiicant announcement regarding his future with the network.
ESPN has signed Tim Tebow to a multi-year contract extension
According to a press release from ESPN, Tebow is going to remain with the network as a college football analyst for the foreseeable future. The exact length of the deal, as well as how much it is worth, has not been revealed.
“ESPN has secured a multi-year contract extension with sports icon Tim Tebow, who will continue as a college football analyst on SEC Network’s traveling pre-game show SEC Nation.
“The Heisman Award winner and National Championship winning quarterback will also remain as a mainstay in ESPN’s College Football Playoff programming, providing his analysis and insight across ESPN networks.
“’I love this game and getting to talk about it every Saturday with the crews on SEC Network and ESPN is a gift I don’t take lightly,’ said Tebow. ‘SEC fans bring a passion that never gets old, and I’m grateful I get to keep doing this alongside people who feel like family.’
“Additionally, Tebow will continue to bring his expert commentary on various high-profile ESPN shows throughout the year, including College Football Live, SportsCenter and more.”
Tebow will work mainly with the SEC Network, which was launched by the Southeastern Conference and ESPN back in 2014. Because Tebow went to college at Florida, where he won the Heisman twice and two National Championships, his expertise in that conference specifically is invaluable.
As noted above, Tebow will also provide commentary on other shows the network airs.
This new contract not only ensures that college football fans will be treated to Tebow’s analysis for years to come, but also that the incredible charity work that he was become synonymous for will continue, and that it will continue to be in the spotlight.
