NBC Sports’ Mike Tirico will have a busy night on February 8, 2026. Tirico is set to call Super Bowl LX, and then immediately he will host the network’s coverage of the XXV Winter Games.
Tirico’s busy night
In 2022, Tirico worked both the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics on the same night; however, he was hosting events on NBC. This upcoming Super Bowl will be the first for Tirico as the lead play-by-play broadcaster.
Immediately following the Super Bowl LX trophy presentation on the field, he will turn his attention to hosting Primetime in Milan. It will mark the start of Tirico’s fifth Olympic primetime hosting assignment for NBC.
The month of Tirico
Tirico will miss the first few days of the Winter Olympics, as he prepares to call the Super Bowl. TODAY host Savannah Guthrie and NBC Sports broadcaster Terry Gannon will host opening ceremonies on February 6, which is typically hosted by Tirico.
The following night on February 7, Football Night in America host Maria Taylor will fill-in for Tirico, hosting the primetime coverage from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., the site of Super Bowl LX.
After Tirico’s big night of calling the Super Bowl, and hosting Primetime in Milan, he will spend Monday, February 9 taking a travel day to Milan to join the NBC Olympics crew for on-site coverage. Guthrie will host primetime coverage that night while Tirico makes his way to Italy.
Beginning Tuesday, February 10, Tirico will host the remainder of the network’s primetime Olympics coverage from Milan. Taylor will also begin anchoring late night coverage the same day.
No Tirico or Taylor on NBA All-Star Game coverage
With Tirico and Taylor in Italy for the rest of the Winter Olympics, they will not be back stateside in time to work the 2026 NBA All-Star Game on NBC. It will be NBC’s first NBA All-Star Game in their brand-new contract with the league. Noah Eagle will call the NBA All-Star Game in Tirico’s place, while Ahmed Fareed will take over the studio show hosting for Taylor.
Before the Super Bowl and Olympics madness begins for Tirico and Taylor, they will both be a part of the debut of NBC’s new NBA series, Basketball Night in America on Sunday, February 1.
In a statement released, NBC Sports President Rick Cordella expressed elation for the network’s plans, saying, “We are excited to announce these key roles across multiple events as we approach what will be one of the most unique and iconic sports months in media history.”
He added, “These assignments speak to the quality and depth of our roster and the individuals’ diverse skill set and dedication as well as the unprecedented cooperation across NBCUniversal.”
