TGL represents an indoor golf boom

TGL Successes, Failures, and Riding the Indoor Golf Boom

TGL (Tomorrow Golf League), co-founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, is revolutionizing golf by merging advanced technology, entertainment, and elite competition, fundamentally changing how the sport is played, watched, and experienced.

TGL: Degrees of Success Heading Into Season 2

TGL’s first season can be considered a qualified success, especially from the perspective of its organizers and broadcast partners. The league launched with strong initial interest: its debut match averaged 919,000 viewers on ESPN, peaking at over 1 million, and even outperformed its lead-in college basketball game. Ratings rose to 1.05 million for Tiger Woods’ debut in week two, showing the power of star attraction.

TGL Viewership: Empirical evidence showing room for improvement

However, viewership declined as the season progressed, with week three dropping to 682,000 average viewers—a 32% decrease from the previous week—highlighting a challenge in maintaining broad interest when marquee stars were not playing. By the penultimate week, ratings for a Monday doubleheader dipped to 263,000 and 297,000 viewers, though these numbers still surpassed ESPN’s typical programming for that time slot in prior years.

Despite the mid-season ratings drop, industry observers and TGL executives were pleased with the overall performance. According to a senior sports media columnist at The Athletic, TGL and ESPN were “ecstatic” about the first season, citing the challenge of finding affordable, engaged viewership in today’s media landscape. The league generated significant excitement and delivered on its promise to bring innovation and entertainment to golf.

The season also produced memorable moments and highlights, with strong fan engagement around dramatic shots and the team-based, tech-driven format. Still, the long-term success of TGL will depend on its ability to build deeper fan engagement beyond its biggest stars and sustain audience interest as the novelty wears off.

Will There Be a TGL Season Two?

The next TGL season, Season 2, does not yet have a publicly announced start date. The official TGL website invites fans to sign up to be the first to know about the Season 2 schedule release, including ticket information.

The inaugural 2025 TGL season ran from early January through March 2025, with the regular season concluding on March 4 and playoffs finishing by March 25. Given this timing and the league’s pattern, the next season likely will start in late 2025 or early 2026, but no specific dates have been confirmed as of now.

The Indoor Golf Boom: Brooklyn and Others Emerging as Hot Spots

Golfing in Brooklyn is not the easiest task, especially when you’re trying to squeeze in a full round. Between cold, unpredictable weather, long commutes, and work/family time, dialing in your swing year-round is next to impossible. That’s why more golfers are discovering the convenience and reliability of using a golf simulator in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn’s golfing community is rapidly embracing high-end indoor golf technology that the pros use.  Today’s simulators aren’t just for practicing your swing—they offer full-course play, data analytics, and even competitive global tournaments. Whether you’re a scratch golfer or just picking up a club for the first time, the indoor golf experience in Brooklyn offers real benefits without ever having to sit in traffic or on a train for hours.

One of the biggest shifts in recent years is the move toward membership-based simulator clubs. These private clubs offer an environment where serious golfers can play year-round, get consistent practice in,  and avoid weather delays and off-seasons of traditional courses. A high-quality Brooklyn golf simulator can give you access to world-class tour courses, swing diagnostics, and even coaching—all in a clean, comfortable space that’s always available when you are.

Whether you’re preparing for a tournament or just trying to keep your swing sharp in the off-season, the right indoor setup can completely change the way you train and play. The technology is no longer just for pros—it’s now available to any golfer who wants to save time and get more out of their practice.

If you’ve been thinking about leveling up your game, it might be time to see what a top-tier golf simulator club like Gowanus Golf Club has to offer.
