Former World No. 1 Brooks Koepka lost his cool and hit back at a fan who fired a jibe at him after he missed the cut at the PGA Championship. The five-time major champion was once a force to reckon with, but his form has dropped dramatically since he won the PGA Championship in 2023. Koepka’s dip in form did not spare him at Quail Hollow, and a fan added insult to injury after he missed the cut by nine shots.
“…Come Down Here and Say It”—Koepka Hits Back At Heckler
Koepka could have been anticipating questions about his future after missing the cut at the PGA Championship in what is fast turning out to be a poor year for the 35-year-old. However, the two-time PGA Championship winner had no idea what was coming as he walked by the hospitality tent.
A fan sitting in the tent made a jibe about Koepka switching to LIV Golf. The golfer reportedly earned over $100 million from his move to the Saudi-backed league. “That’s what guaranteed money does to you, Brooks,” the fan yelled from the hospitality tent.
Koepka appeared to take a moment to process the comment but then fired back at the heckling fan. “You want to come down here and say it?” Koepka yelled back at the fan, who didn’t muster a response.

US Open Key For Koepka To Salvage Season
Koepka will be keen to salvage his season at the upcoming U.S. Open after he became one of many big names to miss the cut at the 2025 PGA Championship. Players at +1 or better after the first two rounds made it through to the weekend, but the 35-year-old sat at +9 after rounds of 75–76.
The former World No. 1 showed visible disappointment with his performance at Quail Hollow and grew frustrated, leading him to hit back at the fan who made a jibe.” Koepka was poor in the first two rounds of the tournament. The 35-year-old shot a 4-over 75 on Thursday, and then he fired a 5-over 76 on Friday to get to 9-over on the week, which was well outside the cutline. Koepka also carded six bogeys and a double on his scorecard Friday.
Koepka will be worried about his form at major tournaments since 2023. He failed to finish higher than T-23 in all of the last four majors last season, and he also missed the cut at Augusta National last month. However, he will have a chance to salvage his season next month in the U.S. Open, a tournament he’s won twice in his career so far. Koepka also has a slim chance of earning a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team this fall, although automatically qualifying is almost impossible following his poor performances at the first two major championships of the year.
