Justin Rose has sent a heartfelt message to his fans after his surprise withdrawal from the Truist Championship. The former U.S. Open winner left fans and pundits stunned after the PGA Tour announced his withdrawal from the tournament earlier on Saturday. Many fans had hoped to see Rose in action again after the 44-year-old lost to Rory McIlroy in the Masters playoff last month.
Rose’s Heartfelt Message to Fans After “Progressive Illness”
Rose’s career has taken an impressive turn recently. The former U.S. Open champion has recorded three top-10 finishes in eight PGA Tour events this year. This includes a runner-up finish at the Masters, where he lost to Rory McIlroy as the Northern Irishman completed his career Grand Slam. However, Rose has been struggling since the start of the Truist Championship and found himself at the bottom of the leaderboard after delivering some below-par performances.
“Justin Rose WD prior to the start of the third round of the Truist Championship (illness),” the PGA Tour posted on X on Saturday.
Rose’s sudden withdrawal has led to questions about his future and preparedness for upcoming competitions. The PGA Championship is just around the corner, but Rose has allayed fears about his readiness and revealed that he is prioritising recovery as he sits out the remainder of the Truist Championship.
“After becoming progressively ill over the past few days, I have made the unfortunate decision to withdraw from the @TruistChamp I am not in a state to complete, and it’s best for me to focus on a quick recovery prior to next week. Thanks to all the fans in Philly for the love this week. It’s a special place to me and I’m sorry it wasn’t a better week!” the 44-year-old posted on X.

Rose, Jason Day Among Notable Golfers to Withdraw from Truist Championship
Justin Rose is targeting a quick recovery after his withdrawal from the Truist Championship. The 44-year-old will be eager to move on from his disappointing start and return to the course firing on all cylinders. Rose will be keen to build on his impressive start to 2024.
The Masters runner-up joins Jason Day as one of the most prominent names to have withdrawn from the Truist Championship. While Rose withdrew from the tournament after shooting a 70 followed by a 77 in the first two rounds, Day pulled out before the start of the event.
Rose has recorded 11 PGA Tour victories and earned about $68.9 million since winning the U.S. Open in 2013. He will be hoping to recover fully in time for the PGA Championship.
