Jon Rahm Won’t Be Taking All The Credit

It has been a couple of weeks since the 2025 Ryder Cup.  Despite some setbacks with a player needing to leave for medical reasons, invoking the envelope rule, and a rowdy crowd, the European Ryder Cup team was victorious at Bethpage.  One player has felt a bit strange with the way people have approached him after the victory.  Jon Rahm feels like he has been getting a bit too much credit.

Jon Rahm On His Team

Ahead of the Spanish Open this week, Rahm has been asked a few times what it was like winning the Ryder Cup.  He, of course, feels great about the victory, but has also pointed out another aspect of the question.  He felt like it was a question he shouldn’t be answering alone.  Jon Rahm would say:

“It is very weird being congratulated for something that I didn’t just do myself, right. Like when I get thank yous and congratulations, I wish we were all together because we all deserve it, right? It wasn’t just me. I only contributed three points out of 15, right, and all of those three with a partner,” he said.  “So it’s an odd feeling, but it’s very nice to be able to give that to European golf.”

The way Rahm sees it, this was a team effort through and through.  Sure, he was a big name on the team, but so was McIlroy.  He wasn’t even the team captain, so being congratulated, to him, feels like taking too much credit.  As he stated in the interview, he only contributed three out of fifteen points while his team carried the rest.

Rahm Since The Victory

Jon Rahm would go on to call the past two weeks “the most emotional weeks for me.”  In part because of how big the Ryder Cup was.  He called it a very unique and special event that left him with an incredible feeling, especially after winning.  Now Rahm is playing in the Spanish Open in his home country of Spain.  An event he has won thrice in the past.  He has been looking forward to this one because it is another special event for him.  He especially looks forward to seeing the crowd because of how good and supportive they have been to him in the past.  Rahm is looking forward to giving them a good show in Madrid.

After The Ryder Cup

Despite winning a big victory with the Ryder Cup, Jon Rahm is trying to stay classy with how he approaches it.  He has a lot of pride in that event, especially in the team that worked together to get that victory.  Rahm just wants everyone to remember that it was a team effort and that the rest of the team should get a piece of that pie.  He is still on cloud nine with the feeling of victory on his mind, and is now looking to channel that energy into the Spanish Open to bring in a fourth victory for the tournament.
