Bryson DeChambeau Responds to Brandel Chamblee’s ‘Bots’ Claim

LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau has hit back at Brandel Chamblee’s claims that he uses bots to generate views for his YouTube channel. The NBC Golf analyst openly criticized Bryson DeChambeau ahead of this week’s Ryder Cup, saying that the 32-year-old was more concerned with gaining attention rather than winning for the Ryder Cup.

How DeChambeau Came Under Fire From Chamblee

Chamblee didn’t mince words when talking about Bryson DeChambeau amid the LIV Golf star’s ongoing feud with Ryder Cup opponent Rory McIlroy. The golf pundit criticized the LIV Golf player while speaking on the Golf Channel’s “Live From the Ryder Cup.” The 63-year-old referred to DeChambeau as a “captain’s nightmare.”

McIlroy had previously hit out at DeChambeau for his comments at the “Happy Gilmore 2” premiere in New York City this July. The Grand Slam winner accused DeChambeau of trying to gain attention by talking about other people.

“He’s trying to drum some interest up for himself and I thought it was poignant when he was asked about the rhetoric of Rory, he didn’t mention the goal this week of winning the Ryder Cup,” Chamblee said. “What he did do was talk about his YouTube channel, and if you want to talk about the numbers generated by that, it’s pretty dubious. I have no doubt that bots are generating those views… He’s an odd duck when he’s trying to fit in with a team and he has so many bulletin board mistakes. I think he would be a captain’s nightmare.”

DeChambeau Claims He Doesn’t Know What Chamblee Said

DeChambeau has now addressed Chamblee’s criticisms during practice on Wednesday while signing autographs for fans. A widely circulated video shows the U.S. Open champion looking down at the camera. “Did Brandel say something yesterday? I don’t know what it was,” he said.

Fans and media immediately interpreted the 32-year-old’s comments as a clapback towards Chamblee after the NBC Golf analyst criticized him earlier in the week. The Crushers GC captain returns to compete at the Ryder Cup after missing out on the U.S. Team in 2023.

Despite the criticism he has received, several members of the U.S. Team have come out openly to back the LIV Golf star. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler labeled him a “great partner and a great guy,” insisting that everyone in the team was happy to have him around for his energy.

Captain Keegan Bradley has also heaped praise on DeChambeau, praising the LIV Golf star for “doing an exceptional job of making the extra effort” despite having a very difficult schedule and coming into a team full of PGA and LIV Golf players.

The U.S. Team expects DeChambeau to play a key role alongside World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, and Collin Morikawa as they aim to reclaim the Ryder Cup after losing to Europe in Rome two years ago.
