Week 10 Heisman Poll

Just three weeks remain in the college football regular season. With College Football Playoff rankings being announced this week along with some marquee games, we’ve had some movement in our poll. Our Last Word writers continue to do an impressive job of ensuring this is not just a quarterback award but instead goes to the most valuable athlete. One minor change this week, we had a tie. Let’s get to the Week 10 Heisman poll.

Strike The Pose: Week 10 Heisman Poll

We will continue to track whose stock is rising and whose stock is falling in our Week 10 Heisman poll. We have a new candidate on our list this week. Before jumping in the poll, we will get to a quarterback who just missed out on a Top 5 spot. Please don’t feel too bad, though. He and his teammates are cruising this season.

Honorable Mention: Kurtis Rourke, QB, Indiana Hoosiers

Hoosier daddy? The Indiana Hoosiers continue to be one of the best feel-good stories in college football this season. Indiana overcame a 10-0 deficit to score the next 47 points unanswered in their win over Michigan State on Saturday. A big reason for their success this year is Kurtis Rourke. The Ohio transfer threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns in the win, leading Indiana to its first 9-0 start in school history. Rourke and the Hoosiers will host Michigan on Saturday in Bloomington with a chance to move to 10-0 and make a statement for the program

#5 Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss Rebels

Welcome back, Jaxson Dart! Dart broke Ole Miss records for passing yards and touchdown throws in a single game, surpassing Matt Corral and Eli Manning, as the 19th-ranked Rebels cruised to a 63-31 victory over Arkansas on Saturday. He threw four touchdowns and 321 yards in just the first half, connecting with Jordan Watkins on five TDs, including a 62-yarder and a 66-yarder on consecutive drives, separated by just three offensive plays. Dart finished the game by completing 25 of 31 passes for 515 yards and six touchdowns. Dart and the Rebels face a critical must-win/elimination game this weekend in Oxford as they host Georgia. Last year in Athens, the Bulldogs dominated, prompting Lane Kiffin to retool his roster through the transfer portal. Saturday will reveal if those changes have paid off.

#4 Cam Ward, QB, Miami Hurricanes

“The U” continues to show they just might be back in 2024. Miami has locked down an inside track to the ACC Championship game in Charlotte and a possible top-seed in the College football playoff. CFB Playoff Commissioner Ward Manuel shared how the Hurricanes’ explosive offense passed the beloved “eye test” for the committee. Cam Ward is “a” if not “the” reason why Miami’s offense is so good. Ward had another high night in the Hurricane’s 53-31 win over Duke. The red-hot quarterback finished the game  25-for-41 with 400 yards and five touchdowns.

#3 Dillon Gabriel, QB, Oregon Ducks

Dillon Gabriel continues to gain momentum and gather more votes each week. If a quarterback will break through and win the award in 2024, one has to like Gabriel’s chances. The Ducks currently sit at #1 in the rankings, are undefeated, and are coming off a big win over Michigan in Ann Arbor last weekend. Sure Michigan is down, but that was a helmet game with many viewers that saw the quarterback lead the Ducks to the win. Gabriel finished 22 of 34 for 294 yards with one passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown.

#1 Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State Broncos

We have a tie, and no, it’s not in the presidential election results—it’s at the top of the Week 10 Heisman poll. Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty, a classic workhorse running back, is making a big impact in 2024. In Boise State’s 56-24 victory over San Diego State on Friday night, Jeanty dominated with 149 rushing yards on 31 carries and scored two touchdowns. The Broncos earned the No. 12 spot in the initial College Football Playoff rankings. If Boise keeps winning, they not only secure a spot but could potentially surpass an ACC or Big 12 team if those teams stumble.

#1 Travis Hunter, ATH, Colorado Buffaloes

Travis Hunter, the extraordinary two-way player from Colorado, took a week off, but the buzz around his exceptional talent hasn’t faded. Pro Football Focus recently recognized Hunter’s dual-threat abilities, highlighting his impressive 84.7 offensive grade and 85.1 defensive grade. These ratings solidify his status as one of college football’s most versatile and talented players.
