Washington Transfer Portal Additions and Commitment Flips

Washington Recruiting

It may feel like this Washington roster lost all its pieces this off-season, but that’s not entirely true. Not everyone is leaving. Jedd Fisch and staff have landed six recommitments from players who withdrew their names from the transfer portal. Washington also added two more transfers this past weekend, flipped a 2024 commitment, and flipped a class of 2025 quarterback, both from Arizona. Fisch continues to reconstruct this roster as we quickly approach February.

Players Returning to Washington

Veteran quarterback Will Rogers recommitted to Washington after initially entering the transfer portal in early January. The Mississippi State quarterback took to social media to let everyone know he was locked in with Fisch and Washington for 2024. He joined Dyson McCutcheon as the first two Huskies to withdraw from the transfer portal and stay in Seattle. McCutcheon made his decision to return just two days after Fisch got off the plane in Seattle. Since then, four more Huskies removed their names from the portal to stay at Washington.

Quarterback Dermaricus Davis was a class of 2024 early enrollee at Washington who was recruited to Seattle under the previous staff. He was a four-star ranked just two spots ahead of Demond Williams Jr. who transferred to Washington a few weeks ago. Williams’ arrival in Seattle was quickly followed by Davis’ entry into the portal. However, just three days after that decision, Davis announced on social media that he would exit the transfer portal and return to Washington. He and Williams now make a “four-star-studded” quarterback room behind Rogers, the team’s presumed starter next season. Davis threw 44 touchdown passes in high school with over 5,700 passing yards. He’s a talented player and his competition with Williams will only strengthen the depth of Washington’s quarterback room.

One day before Davis’ announcement, a fellow class of 2024 early enrollee withdrew from the portal. Linebacker Khmori House announced he’d remain a Husky. The California native attended St. John Bosco High School and had a three-star rating out of high school.

Returning Experience

Landen Hatchett played in nine games last season for Washington as a true freshman. The number six overall prospect in Washington’s 2023 class initially entered the transfer portal with the staff changes in January. Hatchett announced on social media that he would withdraw from the portal and return to Washington a couple of days ago. His return to the program is significant for an offensive line room that lost nearly all of its production from last season. Hatchett will be one of the few with experience from last season that’s returning in 2024.

At running back, Tybo Rogers was another class of 2023 player to enter the portal in January. He played in 12 of the team’s 15 games last season including the Playoff Semifinal and National Championship. Rogers had 185 yards rushing with an average of just over four yards per carry. He withdrew from the transfer portal and will rejoin a running back room that now includes Jonah Coleman and freshman Adam Mohammed, both transferring in from Arizona.

Newly Added Transfers

Ephesians Prysock adds to the list of Arizona transfers to land in Seattle. The cornerback played for two seasons under Fisch at Arizona with more than 1,000 snaps. Prysock recorded seven pass breakups, 61 tackles, and an interception in 2023. His two seasons of experience will be critical for this Washington secondary as he will come in and play right away. Much of the Husky secondary transferred and Prysock will be key in filling those voids next season.

Fisch added another defensive player last weekend in Bryun Parham, a linebacker from San Jose State. He entered the transfer portal when his former head coach Brent Brennan took over at Arizona, and will now play for Washington. Parham led the Spartans last season with 106 tackles, five tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks last season. His commitment came after he took an official visit to Washington this past weekend.

Flips from Arizona

Rahim Wright is a 2024 defensive back who was committed to play for Arizona as of this past weekend. He announced his de-commitment on Monday morning and shared that he was committing to Washington just one hour later. Wright is not an early enrollee, so this classifies as a flip rather than a transfer.

Fisch and staff also flipped a class of 2025 quarterback recruit this past week in Dash Beierly. The California native was committed to play at Arizona but took to social media to announce he was de-committing from the Wildcats, and committing to Washington last week. Beierly has a three-star rating but is one of the nation’s top dual-threat quarterbacks in next year’s class. Jimmy Dougherty was a big part of his recruitment, and he will now be following him to Washington. Beierly has a baseball background and is comfortable making throws on the run to both sides of the field in addition to being a confident pocket passer. The future Husky is a big pickup for Fisch, as they lost a 2025 quarterback commit a few weeks ago.
