Tasty Tailgate Beverages To Thrill A Crowd

Happy Football Friday All Y’all! First and foremost did y’all save last weeks A Cornucopia of Chilis? Which one was your favorite?  Here is a bonus chili recipe from season on of the tailgate treats: Coach Kate’s Kickoff Chili. Since, we haven’t covered any beverages to help wash down all our tasty treats this season. It is now time to quench your thirst.  We hope you enjoy these tasty beverages. 

Tasty Tailgate Beverages To Thrill A Crowd

Mulled Winter White Wine

Ingredients:

  • 1 Anjou pear, plus additional slices for garnish
  • 1 Navel Orange
  • 16 Whole Cloves
  • 4 (750-ml) bottles Riesling white wine
  • 16 oz. no-sugar-added 100% pear juice
  • 5 oz. pear brandy
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 (4-in.) cinnamon sticks
  • 1 whole nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Cut pear lengthwise into ¼-in.-thick slices; remove seeds and set pear slices aside. Stud orange with whole cloves. Cut orange crosswise in half; set aside.
  2. Pour wine, pear juice and brandy into a 6-qt. slow-cooker. Stir in sugar, cinnamon sticks and whole nutmeg. Add in pear slices and orange halves.
  3. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours or until desired mulled flavor strength. Reduce heat to warm setting. Remove spices and orange halves, if desired. Pour mulled wine into heatproof glasses or mugs. Garnish with additional pear slices, if desired.

Apple Cider Old Fashioned

The easiest recipe ever.

Ingredients: 

  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 2/3 cup apple cider
  • 2 oz. whiskey
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Apple slices, for garnish
  • Cinnamon sticks, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in glass and stir to combine.
  2. Garnish with an apple slice and cinnamon stick.

Fireball Hot Toddy

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces hot water
  • 2 ounces Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey, (or more as necessary)
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1 tea bag, (optional)

Directions: 

  1. Add whiskey, hot water, honey, and lemon juice to a large mug and stir.
  2. If using a tea bag, steep for 5 minutes before drinking.
  3. Enjoy

Sriracha Bloody Beer with Chili Sugar Bacon

Hello, sriracha AND bacon? Yes! Please!!

Garnish:

  • 2 Celery ribs
  • 2 strips thick cut bacon
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp brown sugar

Cocktail:

  • 1 cup Calamato or tomato juice
  • 1 cup IPA beer
  • 1/2 tsp celery salt plus additional for glass rims
  • 1 tsp Sriracha
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp brine for a jar of spanish olive
  • 1/4 tsp cream style horseradish
  • 1 tbs lime juice about 1 medium lime
  • 1 tbs lemon juice about 1/2 medium lemon
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Ice

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Thread the bacon through oven safe skewers.
  3. Sprinkle with brown sugar and chili powder.
  4. Place on a wire rack over a baking sheet.
  5. Bake until bacon is crispy, about 15 minutes.
  6. Rim glasses with celery salt. Add all cocktail ingredients to a shaker half full of ice, swirl to combine.
  7. Strain into prepared glasses, garnish with celery and bacon skewer.
