Week Eight Winners From The Big 12

Week Eight Winners From The Big 12

As the kids say, last week’s Big 12 winners were very “mid.” We were able to split both the totals and against the spread picks. However, we were a poor 1-3 on the moneyline. We also saw the first lock of the season get broken as a good old-fashioned Big 12 shootout broke out in Stillwater. No Big 12 action during the week, just six Saturday Big 12 games to pick in the week eight winners.  As always, all lines/totals are reflected in the most common number across multiple sports books at the time of publication.

Week Eight Winners From The Big 12

Season Record ML: 44-21

Season Record ATS: 21-32

Season Record Totals: 27-26

Lock Of The Week: 3-1

UCF At #6 Oklahoma (-18.5)

The current leader atop the Big 12 standing resumes play this week against a stumbling UCF team. Brent Venables should see a very rested team come out in front of the home crowd and put it on the Knights early and often. Covering 19 points against a conference opponent is a ton of points. However, the Sooners are superior in all phases of the game and should keep marching toward a perfect regular season.

Moneyline: Oklahoma ATS: Oklahoma Total 66.5: Over

Baylor At Cincinnati (-3.5)

We bring to the viewing public the pillow fight of the week eight winners from the Big 12. Oddly enough, this game is the location of the lock of the week eight winners. Both of these offenses are bad. Cincinnati has a decent defense. Last Word is not at all recommending anyone actually watch this game with much attention. But, someone has to win this game. So, on the backs of the only quality unit in this game, the Bearcats notch their first Big 12 victory in a low-scoring affair.

Moneyline: Cincinnati ATS: Cincinnati Total 49.5: Under

Oklahoma State (+3.5) At West Virginia

Possibly the most intriguing game of the week eight winners out of the Big 12 is happening in Morgantown. Both of these teams have taken some very unique paths to get to 4-2. But Mike Gundy and Neal Brown have their respective teams playing quality football. The season stats don’t look great for either team on both sides of the ball. However, with stability finally at the Oklahoma State quarterback position in Alan Bowman, the Cowboys have enough of an identity to be functioning. That should be the difference, especially as a road underdog.

Moneyline: Oklahoma State ATS: Oklahoma State Total 49.5: Over

#8 Texas At Houston (+22.5)

Texas is the better team, no question. They are also coming off a bye week, so they will be fresh. Houston has had its fair share of ups and downs. But they are riding high after their thrilling victory over West Virginia. It’s been two months since Last Word put this game on everyone’s radar. So there is no backing down now. Dana Holgorsen and noted Texas-slayer Donovan Smith take down the Horns in Houston’s Super Bowl.

Moneyline: Houston ATS: Houston Total 60.5: Over

TCU At Kansas State (-6.5)

Both of these teams got a glimpse into the future of their respective programs last week. TCU’s redshirt freshman quarterback Josh Hoover earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors in his debut against BYU. Hoover certainly had to earn it as Kansas State true freshman quarterback Avery Johnson rushed for five touchdowns in a win over Texas Tech. While both quarterbacks have provided a needed spark to their offenses, Johnsons was accompanied by the Wildcats’ offensive line getting back into a rhythm as well. The rematch of the 2022 Big 12 championship game will result in the purple team winning. Once everyone is done rolling their eyes at that dad joke, they will see the Little Apple’s home-field advantage will fuel the start of a late-season push by Kansas State.

Moneyline: Kanas State ATS: Kansas State Total 59.5: Over

Texas Tech (-3.5) At BYU

This one seems pretty simple on paper. BYU’s offense isn’t great. Their rush defense is pretty bad. The Red Raiders have one of the best running backs in all of FBS football. As long as Joey McGuire and offensive coordinator Zach Kittley don’t try to outsmart themselves, they will prevail.

Moneyline: Texas Tech ATS: Texas Tech Total 50.5: Under
