Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators coaching staff land one of the top 2023 recruits in the country. Rivals1000 recruit and four-star tight end Mac Markway announced Tuesday afternoon that he has verbally committed to the University of Florida.
2023 Rivals100 TE Mac Markway commits to Florida
Markway chose the Florida Gators over many of the top college football programs in the country. The highly touted tight end is Florida’s first commit in their 2023 recruiting class. Tight end coach Tim Brewster was Florida’s primary recruiter for Mac Markway.
Mac Markway is a 6’4” 250-pound tight end from a long line of tight ends in his family starting with his father, Matt. His dad was a former tight end at the University of Iowa. Mac’s brother, Kyle Markway, played college ball at the University of South Carolina and recently signed a contract with the Los Angeles Rams after spending some time with the New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Cleveland Browns last season.

Mac Markway is a four-star tight end out of DeSmet Jesuit High School in St. Louis, Missouri. The newest Florida commit is one of the top-ranked recruits and tight ends in the country.
During his recruitment, Markway received 27 offers from some of the elite college football programs in the country. He had offers from schools like Alabama, Florida, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Norte Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, and USC.
On Rivals, Markway is the 86th ranked recruit and the seventh-ranked tight end in the country. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Markway is the 93rd ranked recruit and the fourth-ranked tight end in the country.
