Four-star LB Shemar James Commits to the Florida Gators.  James was a surprise commitment from the state of Alabama for Dan Mullen and his staff. Rivals250 recruit and four-star linebacker Shemar James has verbally committed to the University of Florida.

The four-star LB committed to the Gators while being on campus for his official visit. The Alabama native was a highly coveted recruit that held offers from some of the top college football programs in the country.

James is a very athletic recruit that plays both sides of the ball at his high school. In addition, to his athletic skills, he is  6’3” 210 pounds, James is a pretty big linebacker with some room to fill add to his large frame. Watching his Hudl film, you can see that James does a great job against the rush and looks to be a sure tackler. He also showcases his coverage skills and shows that he’s a complete linebacker.

With Shemar James’s commitment, the Florida Gators now have seven commits in their 2022 recruiting class including five four-star commits. Furthermore, Florida now has the 24th ranked recruiting class in the country according to Rivals.

Who is Shemar James?

Shemar James is a four-star linebacker out of the Faith Academy in Mobile, Alabama. Meanwhile, the newest Florida commit is one of the top-ranked linebackers and athletes in the country. James’s commitment to UF came as a surprise as one of his instate schools was one of his top choices.

During his recruitment, James received 19 offers from some of the top college football programs in the country. He had offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, and Texas A&M.

On 247 Sports, James is the 118th ranked recruit and the twelfth ranked linebacker in the country. On Rivals, James is the 211th ranked recruit and the ninth-ranked athlete in the country.
