Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators coaching staff have signed one of their top commits in their class. Three-star safety and Florida commit Dakota Mitchell has signed his NLI to the University of Florida.
This is a good signing for Florida as Mitchell is one of the top safeties in his state. Florida head coach Mullen likes Mitchell’s skillset and projects to make a nice impact on the Florida Gators defense in the future. Mitchell is one of three safeties that will be signing with the Florida Gators on Early Signing Day.
Who is Dakota Mitchell?
Mitchell is a three-star safety out of Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida. The Florida commit is one of the top-ranked safeties in the country. He was previously committed to the LSU Tigers. However, the Florida Gators were able to win him over in the end.
During his recruitment, Mitchell received 28 offers from some of the top college football programs in the country. Mitchell had offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Mitchell is the 452nd ranked recruit. In addition, the 247 Sports Composite has him as the 34th ranked safety in the country. On ESPN, Mitchell is the 36th ranked safety. Further, the 86th ranked recruit in Florida according to ESPN.
The Gators have added a top safety that had plenty of choices to choose from. Mitchell is a versatile defensive back that could play the STAR position at Florida. Also, a win for Florida, Mitchell will enroll early at the University of Florida in the summer.
