Lonnie White Jr out of Malvern Prep in Malvern, PA has signed his NLI to attend Penn State. The four-star athlete has decided to stay in Pennsylvania and play football. Two things that were not happening two years ago. White Jr. committed to Clemson for baseball in his sophomore year. Then, during his junior year, he began to see offers from many Division I football programs. This started to change how he thought about college and his future. He ended up receiving 23 total offers before deciding to stay home and sign with the Nittany Lions.
Lonnie White Jr Signs with Penn State
The six-foot-two-inch, 210-pound athlete wants to likely play both football and baseball when he gets to college. This is something that former Penn State wide receiver Mac Hippenhammer also did before choosing to transfer. Hopefully, this will fare better for White Jr because he has tremendous athleticism that will benefit the Nittany Lions on the football field. Playing baseball and basketball as well, he has a great ability to locate the ball quickly which will help him as a receiver at the next level. Finally, he has tremendous speed and strength.
White Jr had a total of 23 offers. Several other Big Ten schools offered, namely, Rutgers, Michigan State, Michigan, Maryland, and Indiana. He is the seventh-ranked recruit in Pennsylvania according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. In addition, 247Sports Composite has him ranked as the 34th wide receiver in the nation. In contrast, Rivals has White Jr ranked 10th in Pennsylvania and eighth-ranked athlete in the nation.
