Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators coaching staff have signed one of their top offensive commits. Four-star tight end and Florida commit Gage Wilcox has signed his NLI to the University of Florida.
This is a huge signing for Florida as Wilcox is one of the top tight ends in the 2021 class. Florida head coach Mullen likes his skillset. In addition, Wilcox is a great fit and can really make a huge impact on the Florida Gators offense in the future.
Wilcox is one of two tight ends that will be signing with Florida. The Gators also expect three-star tight end and former Penn State commit Nick Elksnis to sign on Early Signing Day.
Who is Gage Wilcox and What Can He Bring to Florida?
Wilcox is a four-star tight end out of Jefferson High School in Tampa, Florida. The Florida commit is one of the top tight ends in the country. Wilcox was a tough get for the Gators as he had many offers from top college football programs.
During his recruitment, Wilcox received 18 offers from some of the top college football programs in the country. Wilcox had offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State.
On Rivals, Wilcox is the 249th ranked recruit. He is also the tenth-ranked tight end in the country according to Rivals. On ESPN, Wilcox is the 257th ranked recruit and the second-ranked tight end-Y in the country.
The Gators have added another top tier tight end who could really make an impact in the future. Wilcox will come into the University of Florida with a very talented tight end room. Kyle Pitts will be gone but the backup tight ends, Kemore Gamble and Keon Zipperer, have five combined touchdowns. Wilcox will also be coached by one of the top tight end coaches in the country in Tim Brewster.
