Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators coaching staff have signed one of their top defensive commits in their class. Four-star defensive end and Florida commit Justus Boone has signed his NLI to the University of Florida.
This is a great signing for Florida as Boone is a big, strong defensive end that should be a nice fit for the Gators’ defense. Florida head coach Mullen loves Boone’s skillset. He projects to make a big impact on the Florida Gators defense in the future.
Boone is the only strong-side defensive end that’s signing with the Florida Gators on Wednesday. Florida commit Tyreak Sapp is projected to sign his National Letter of Intent in February.
Who is Justus Boone and What Can He Bring to Florida?
Boone is a four-star defensive end out of Sumter High School in Sumter, South Carolina. Like Desmond Watson, Boone was a tough get for the Gators. Boone is one of the top recruits in South Carolina.
During his recruitment, Boone received 19 offers from some of the top college football programs in the country. Boone had offers from schools like Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Virginia.
On 247 Sports, Boone is the 202nd ranked recruit. In addition, he is the fourteenth ranked strong-side defensive end in the country according to 247 Sports. On ESPN, Boone is the 42nd ranked defensive end in the country. ESPN also has him as the second-ranked recruit in South Carolina.
The Gators have added one of the top defensive end recruits in the country and has risen in the recruiting rankings since committing to Florida. At six-foot-five and 250 pounds, Boone has tremendous size and could be a really nice player at the University of Florida. Boone will also be enrolling at Florida early in January so he’ll be able to practice with the team in spring camp.
