A Huge Get Out Of South Florida
Throughout his seven years at Kentucky Mark Stoops recruited the state of Florida very heavily. For example last year’s class featured four players from the Sunshine State. As it stands right now the 2020 class only has one recruit from Florida. However he’s a huge get as Kentucky Signs four star defensive end Samuel Anaele.
Flipping From “The U”
Anaele originally committed to Miami all the way back on January 15th, 2018. However as recruiting usually goes the 6-4, 247-pound Anaele continued to hear from other schools. One of those of course was Kentucky and coach Steve Clinkscale. He obviously liked what he heard as he decommitted from Miami on June 30 and committed to Kentucky the next day. For those that aren’t familiar with him take a look at his highlight video.

He ranks as the 106th best player in the country by Rivals and number 16 at his position. The remarkable thing about Anaele is he’s only been playing football for three years. Born in Nigeria he began his athletic career playing basketball before moving to the gridiron. During his senior season at McDougal Technical Institute Anaele recorded 38 tackles with 19 going for a loss. In addition he had seven sacks.
Both Anaele and Justin Rogers , the top two players in the 2020 class, were both recruited by Clinkscale. The Kentucky defensive backs coach is rapidly moving up the list of the SEC’s great recruiters.
Filling A Position Of Need
One look at Kentucky’s current roster shows the opportunity for immediate playing time is there for Anaele. Both of the Wildcats’ starting defensive ends Calvin Taylor and T. J. Carter are both seniors and will be graduating. Behind them is Josh Paschal who is a junior to be. In addition they have current freshman Davoan Hawkins and another incoming player Tre’vonn Rybka.
As mentioned earlier, Anaele and Rogers are the highest rated players in the class. True Blue Fans as buzzing with the thought of these two forming the nucleus of another strong defense in the years to come.
