The University of Michigan is continuing to bolster its defensive line. Three-star defensive lineman Jaylen Harrell has signed with the Wolverines. Harrell is the fourth defensive lineman to sign with Michigan, demonstrating the team’s desire to continue to have a physical defense.
Who Is Jaylen Harrell?
Jaylen Harrell hails from Tampa, Florida. Born into a sports family, Harrell’s father, James, played in the NFL from 1979 to 1987. At 6-4, 235 pounds, Harrell attended Berkeley Prep High School, where he played defensive end, linebacker, running back and fullback. Serving as the team captain as a senior, Harrell helped the team to a second-round appearance in the state Class 3A Playoffs.
In his senior year, Harrell registered 58 tackles, 11 of which were for a loss of yards. He also generated three sacks, showcasing his innate ability to get after the quarterback.
As a result of his high school performance, Harrell was awarded a four-star ranking according to 247Sports Composite. 247Sports rated Harrell as the 22nd-rated defensive end prospect and the 60th best player coming out of Florida. Rivals.com also awarded Harrell three-star status and ESPN300 rated the young defensive lineman the fourth-best in the country at his position.
