Tyrion Davis-Price is just a freshman at LSU. The 2019 season has given fans of the Tigers a glimpse of what is to come from the talented running back in the near future. As a dynamic tailback at Southern Lab in Baton Rouge, Alabama offered him just before the Tigers did. He also received offers from many other schools including Penn State, Auburn, and Georgia. But Davis-Price knew that LSU was always the place he would end up. Growing up in Baton Rouge, Tyrion had dreams since age seven of playing in Death Valley. Now, the true freshman’s dreams have become a reality.
Last Word On College Football spoke with Davis-Price’s mother, Stacie Davis-Price, about her son’s path to Baton Rouge. Though the offers began to flow in, Davis-Price has always been a true Tiger at heart.
Tyrion Davis-Price Earning Respect
On what drew Tyrion to LSU, Stacie Davis-Price told Last Word On College Football that it was “a combination of hometown, and wanting to play for LSU at an early age.” Every school he visited had a great education base and great athletics standards. However, LSU has always been home for Tyrion. And it always will be. Stacie stated that the recruiting process was brutal. But she told her son to “make the decision on your own.” The Davis-Price family will tell anyone that Tyrion knows at heart he made the right choice.
Favorite Moments of 2019 Season
The 2019 season has flown by, sure. But Stacie’s favorite moment came against Florida. It was a top-10 match-up. The Tigers and Gators were deadlocked at 21 at the half. Davis-Price played extensively in the game. He scored a touchdown in the second half that put LSU back on top. That’s the moment that Stacie says is her favorite. The energy and emotion that the true freshman plays with is nearly unmatched. His elusive running style has turned him into one of the most watchable players in college football.
The talented tailback has seen action in every game this season. Despite most of the noise is about the electrifying Tigers offense, Davis-Price has earned his fair share. He’s in a group of running backs that have a strong bond. The big three at LSU are pound for pound when they get a carry. Tyrion is trying to make the best of it. “He always thinks positive”, Stacie said.
The Tiger Walk is a storied tradition at LSU. Tyrion is surely talented, and LSU fans haven’t seen the end of him yet. Just a true freshman, Davis-Price has many rushes left in his career. Being an intricate part of the offense has set him up for success in the future.
Davis-Price Mentored by Leader Clyde Edwards-Helaire
The three main rushers at LSU are Clyde Edwards-Helaire, John Emery Jr. and Tyrion Davis-Price. All three of them have a connection to each other. Stacie says that “Clyde is the motivator.” The junior is always motivating the two freshmen to be better. Tyrion has known Clyde for a few years before he stepped on campus. The bond the two have is forever unbreakable. Emery and Davis-Price are set to “do something special next season.” Stacie is “beyond thrilled” for her son to be on such a talented team and have a strong bond with his brothers in the backfield.
Building His Legacy at LSU
Davis-Price made his name known early on in the season. Appearing in every game, the freshman has a bright future. His choice to attend LSU was an easy one. The Tigers are the hometown team. Playing for Coach Ed Orgeron was a dream of his. Now, those dreams are a full reality.
