Florida Bounces Back With 48-10 Win Versus Colorado State

The Florida Gators rebound after their first loss of the season to Kentucky with a win against the Colorado State Rams. The Gators defeated the Rams in a 48-10 rout that consisted a lot of special team touchdowns. Feleipe Franks had a rough game against Colorado State, but he has already played his touchdown total from last season. The Florida rushing attack had a better night with two long touchdowns run. And one junior receiver has had a much better season than most fans expected. The Gators did a nice job holding a high-powered Colorado State offense to only ten points and also had three turnovers.

Colorado State Rams

The Colorado State Rams failed to upset the Florida Gators as they struggled on offense and defense. Rams starting quarterback K.J. Carta-Samuels had a decent night as he completed 21 out of 33 for 217 yards and a touchdown. The Rams running back had a rough night as the Gators defense held them to 70 rushing yards on 42 carries. Preston Williams had a big night as he had nine receptions for 106 yards. Trey McBride had three catches for 60 yards and a 48-yard receiving touchdown.

The Rams defense and special teams had a bad Saturday as they let Florida get in the end zone six times. Josh Watson led the Rams in tackles with five and three of them solo. Rashad Ajayi had four tackles with the team’s only sack and a tackle for loss. Cornerback V.J. Banks also added interception to his total in the 2018 season. The Rams special team had their problems as they had a blocked punt returned for a touchdown and allowed an 85 yard punt return touchdown.

Florida Gators

The Florida Gators got the win against the Rams, but they still a lot of work to do. Feleipe Franks was eight for fifteen for 119 yards with two touchdowns and an interceptions. The redshirt-sophomore has nine touchdowns and two interceptions on the season. The Florida rushing attack rushed for 222 yards on 29 carries. Freshman Dameon Pierce led the team in rushing with five carries for 87 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Scarlett had six carries for 56 yards and a 30 yard rushing touchdown. Ole Miss transfer Van Jefferson had two receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown. Freddie Swain had an 18-yard receiving touchdown and an 85-yard punt return touchdown on the night.

On defense, the Gators played very well, limiting the Rams to only ten points. They also had five sacks in the game and two fumble recoveries. Jabari Zuniga had a big night with 2.5 sacks and five tackles. James Houston IV led the team with eight tackles and one tackle for loss. C.J. Henderson and Jachai Polite both had a sack versus the Rams. Jeremiah Moon had seven tackles with a two QB hurries and half of a sack. They also had two fumble recoveries by linebacker Vosean Joseph and defensive tackle Elijah Conliffe.

What’s Next?

The Florida Gators will be on the road for the first time this season against the Tennessee Volunteers. This will be Florida’s first road game in the Dan Mullen era. You can watch this game on Saturday night at 7 pm EST on ESPN.
