Day 2 of the WTA Hobart International boasts several big names, including top seed and former US Open champion Emma Raducanu, who will face Camila Osorio in what promises to be an exciting match. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate–including WTA Hobart Day 2 Predictions Including Venus Williams vs Tatjana Maria. But which players will advance?
WTA Hobart Day 2 Predictions
Varvara Gracheva vs Rebecca Sramkova
Head-to-Head: Gracheva 1-0 Sramkova
Varvara Gracheva lost to the eventual champion, Elina Svitolina, in the first round in Auckland and will be looking to get her first win of the season. It’s a similar story for Rebecca Sramkova as well, as she lost in the first round of Brisbane after qualifying easily. This is the best surface for both of these players, and they are separated by only two spots in the rankings. I expect a competitive battle with Gracheva edging it out.
Prediction: Gracheva in 3
Xinyu Wang vs Talia Gibson
Head-to-Head: Wang 2-0 Gibson
Xinyu Wang has started 2026 strong as she reached the final of the ASB Classic in Auckland, with a great win over Alexandra Eala. Wang will have a short turnaround to play the opening match here, and it’s against an opponent who has troubled her in the past. Talia Gibson pushed Wang to three sets in both their previous matches and should fancy her chances here against a slightly tired Chinese player.
Prediction: Gibson in 3
Iva Jovic vs Janice Tjen
Head-to-Head: first meeting
After a breakthrough 2025 season, 18-year-old Iva Jovic has made a solid start to this season, reaching the semifinals in Auckland, where she lost in a competitive match against eventual champion Elina Svitolina. Janice Tjen lost a close match to Sonay Kartal in Auckland and will be eager to register her first win of the season. Tjen won lots of matches last year, but she is still new at this level and is still learning. Tjen’s resilience can frustrate Jovic, but I liked how sharp the American looked last week.
Prediction: Jovic in 3
Emma Raducanu vs Camila Osorio
Head-to-Head: Raducanu 1-0 Osorio
Emma Raducanu has faced some early-season hiccups as she was unfit to play her opening match of the season at the United Cup and then lost to Maria Sakkari for the first time in her career. However, that shouldn’t bother her much, and if she remains fit, she will get back on track quickly. Camila Osorio can be a tricky opponent, but she doesn’t have the firepower to trouble Raducanu. I expect a better level from the top seed in this match and mark her first win of the season.
Prediction: Raducanu in 2
