Biggest Movers in the ATP Top 100 This Week Including Alexander Blockx

With the ATP season barely a week old, movement in the rankings has understandably been limited. Early January is typically a settling period, with most players still finding their rhythm and only a handful of tournaments offering meaningful opportunities to gain or lose points. As a result, there hasn’t been a dramatic reshuffling of the ATP Top 100 just yet, but even in a relatively quiet week, a few notable storylines have begun to emerge particularly around breakthrough debuts, injury-related drops, and early signs of resurgence.

Breakthroughs, Drops and Early Comebacks

The standout mover this week is Alexander Blockx, who is set to make his long-awaited Top 100 debut. The Belgian began the year ranked 101 but will open the week as world No. 95, continuing a surge that gathered momentum late last season. Blockx closed 2025 with an impressive run to the Next Gen ATP Finals final in Riyadh, where he was beaten by Learner Tien, and has carried that confidence seamlessly into the new year. He opened his 2026 campaign by lifting the Challenger title in Canberra, defeating Rafael Jodar in the final. Breaking into the Top 100 feels like a significant milestone, but one that reflects steady progression rather than a sudden breakout.

In contrast, Gael Monfils suffered one of the sharpest drops of the week. The Frenchman fell 41 places to No. 110, sliding out of the Top 100 after losing the ranking points from his Auckland title last season. Monfils’ 2025 campaign was heavily disrupted by injury from September onwards, which limited his ability to defend points during the latter stages of the year. The return to Auckland now offers him an immediate opportunity to regain lost ground and rebuild momentum.

Hubert Hurkacz Successful Week

Elsewhere, Hubert Hurkacz recorded one of the most notable climbs inside the Top 100 following a strong return from injury. The Pole surged from No. 83 to No. 53, playing a key role in Poland’s historic run to the United Cup title. Along the way, Hurkacz claimed high-quality wins over two top ten players in Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz, underlining how quickly he can reassert himself when fully fit.

While the rankings may remain relatively stable for now, these early shifts hint at the movements that could shape the weeks ahead as the season gathers pace.
