WTA Wuhan Final Best Bets Jessica Pegula vs Coco Gauff

The WTA Wuhan final is here. It’s Jessica Pegula vs Coco Gauff. Last Word on Tennis is back with more best bets for this final. Can Gauff win her second title of the year, or will Pegula win her fourth?  I provided a few different bets, so let me know in the comments if you agree with my picks. As always, thank you for reading.

WTA Wuhan final

Pegula – Gauff: October 11th, 2025 12:30
H2H: 4-2

Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff have both had tremendous overall years. Pegula is 51-20 on the year overall, and she has three tournament titles, each on a different court surface. She won a grass tournament at WTA Bad Homburg, a clay tournament at WTA Charleston, and a hardcourt tournament at WTA Austin. She’s also 8-2 in her last ten matches, with two semifinal appearances in those same ten matches.

Pegula has also beaten Coco Gauff four different times, with the most recent coming at the 2024 WTA Berlin tournament in the semifinals. She also beat her in the semifinals of the ’23 WTA Masters Cup, in the quarterfinals of the ’23 WTA Montreal tournament, and in the first round of the ’22 WTA Dubai Open. If you look at their history, Gauff wins when there are lower stakes or it doesn’t matter as much. Pegula wins when it matters and when it counts.

Coco Gauff has had a great year in the overall sense, as well. Unlike Pegula, Gauff has actually won a Major, and did so again this year at the French Open. She didn’t just beat anyone to win the French Open, either. She beat the World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in three sets to win this Major. It was only the second Major in Gauff’s career, but it proved she belongs among the elite of women’s tennis.

Gauff is 46-14 overall this year, and she has impressive wins on her resume. The issue with Gauff, at least lately, is her inability to finish tournaments out, even when she’s the favorite to do so. If Gauff loses this final, it would be yet another example of her losing a high-profile match at the end of a tournament. Recently, it’s been Naomi Osaka, Jasmine Paolini, Amanda Anisimova, and Victoria Mboko. Will Jessica Pegula be added to the list?

Best Bets to Make

Main Bet

The books see Gauff as the favorite, even though Pegula has traditionally owned the rivalry. Why they feel that way is a little beyond me, but I am not going to ridicule you if you want to pick Pegula in this match. I’m going to provide a value bet for both women because there will be readers on both sides of the fence. I genuinely hope that these bets are of value.

If you’re taking Gauff, I think straight up is the most sensible approach. Trying to nail down a correct score or total games is a fool’s errand with these two high-level competitors. Taking the under on 2.5 sets would still net you less money than taking Gauff outright. They don’t have an extensive history of going three sets; only one of their matches has ever, but I still wouldn’t feel comfortable taking anyone on a correct score.

That being said, Gauff winning is a value bet.

Second Bet

If you’re taking Pegula, then straight up is pretty tempting at 2.38 on Bet365. You can do much better, though. If you took Pegula 2:0 is the smarter call, since she has traditionally won in two. It’s only smart to bet the correct score with Pegula, however. At 4.0 on Bet365, you’re going to pull in more winnings than taking Pegula straight up. It’s up to you how you want to play it, but I’d rather cash out if I’m betting the underdog. History has shown us that Pegula tends to beat Gauff in two sets, especially when it matters.

That being said, Pegula winning 2:0 is a value bet.
