The remaining first-round matches are scheduled on Day 2 of the WTA Guadalajara Open Akron and include some thrilling encounters. This article features #5 seed Magda Linette, who will face former quarterfinalist Emiliana Arango. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But who will advance?
WTA Guadalajara Day 2 Predictions
Camila Osorio vs Kamilla Rakhimova
Head-to-Head: Osorio 4-0 Rakhimova
This is the rematch of last year’s quarterfinal match at the Guadalajara Open and one of the most exciting first-round encounters. Camila Osorio has had limited success outside of clay this season, but has a perfect record against Kamilla Rakhimova, who will be eager to beat the Colombian for the first time. Rakhimova is in better form heading into this match and won’t get a better opportunity to get off the mark. I am going with the Russian in this one.
Prediction: Rakhimova in 3
Katerina Siniakova vs Storm Hunter
Head-to-Head: first meeting
Katerina Siniakova arrived at the US Open in great form but couldn’t get past the first round and will be looking to bounce back strongly this week. She will face wild card Storm Hunter, who hasn’t won a match in over 17 months and is on a five-match losing streak. Siniakova is too good to lose this one.
Prediction: Siniakova in 2
Magda Linette vs Emiliana Arango
Head-to-Head: first meeting
Magda Linette is the highest-ranked player in action on Day 2 and has a stern challenge ahead of her. Emiliana Arango has a good record here and is coming off a solid quarterfinal run at the WTA 125 in Guadalajara. However, facing a player of Linette’s calibre will be a completely different challenge, and Arango will have to play at her best to make this close. The Colombian has just one top 50 win this season and will struggle against Linette’s precision and experience.
Prediction: Linette in 3
