WTA Guadalajara Day 1 Predictions Including Alycia Parks vs Darja Vidmanova

Main draw action kicks off in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Monday at the 500-level WTA Guadalajara Open. The draw features four Top 30 players but also has room for some unexpected deep runs from lower-ranked players. Day 1 action kicks off with No. 7 seed Alycia Parks squaring off against Czech phenom Darja Vidmanova. As always, we at LWOT offer our preview and prediction for every match on the slate. But who will advance at WTA Guadalajara?

WTA Guadalajara Day 1 Predictions

Martina Trevisan vs Rebecca Marino

Head-to-Head: Trevisan 1-0 Marino

The last time these two veterans squared off was seven years ago; a tight three-set win for Trevisan. Both women are currently ranked outside the Top 100 but still have the talent to make inroads at WTA events. Neither has had any success on the Tour this season, but Marino is coming off three qualifying wins in Flushing. I’ll side with the more in-form player.

Prediction: Marino in 3

Elena Pridankina vs Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva

Head-to-Head: Pridankina 2-0 Jimenez Kasintseva

We have a matchup of 20-year-olds when Elena Pridankina and Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva square off at WTA Guadalajara. Pridankina has just one Tour-level win this year; Jimenez Kasintseva has two. The stakes for this match are high as these up-and-comers look for a big week to boost themselves up the rankings. Based on current form, Jimenez Kasintseva has to be the pick here. She is 14-8 this summer.

Prediction: Jimenez Kasintseva in 3

Alycia Parks vs Darja Vidmanova

Head-to-Head: first meeting

No. 7 seed Alycia Parks made a run to the Monterrey semis last month, her best of the year. The 24-year-old American has had an up-and-down season but has the firepower to hit with anyone on the WTA Tour. Vidmanova has dominated at the ITF-level over the last two seasons, posting a 56-13 record with seven titles. She is hunting for her first WTA match win, something she will achieve many times throughout her career. I like the 22-year-old Czech to get it done here. Her consistency will wear down Parks.

Prediction: Vidmanova in 3
