WTA Cincinnati Day 1 Predictions Including Donna Vekic vs Sorana Cirstea

It promises to be an exciting opening day of WTA Cincinnati tennis. Ten matches are scheduled, and Wimbledon semifinalists Donna Vekic and Tatjana Maria are among those set to play. We here at LWOT predict all the action, including Venus Williams vs Jessica Bouzas Maneiro and Marketa Vondrousova vs Jaqueline Cristian, in our articles.

WTA Cincinnati Day 1 Predictions

Yulia Putinsteva vs Renata Zarazua

Head-to-head: First meeting

Putintseva’s nightmare season continued in the opening rounds of the Citi DC Open and the National Bank Open. At her best, the Kazakhstani would be an overwhelming favorite to defeat Zarazua. At the moment, it is challenging to trust her against any opponent. The Mexican has a good chance of winning a match that is almost certain to feature many lengthy rallies.
Prediction: Zarazua in 3

Katie Boulter vs Olga Danilovic

Head-to-head: First meeting

Boulter lost her first two matches of the North American swing, and Danilovic was defeated in her first at the National Bank Open. Although Boulter possesses more firepower, Danilovic’s left-handed forehand into Boulter’s backhand could decide this encounter. The Briton’s backhand is her weaker wing by far, and she struggles off it against heavy spin.
Prediction: Danilovic in 3

Tatjana Maria vs Whitney Osuigwe

Head-to-head: Osuigwe 2-0 Maria

37-year-old Maria has crashed back to earth in her last few events after excellent form on grass. Osuigwe was impressive in qualifying, and the momentum from that stage can be crucial. The 23-year-old also handled Maria’s unique style in their previous meetings. A home hard-court gives her a good chance of achieving that again.
Prediction: Osuigwe in 2

Donna Vekic vs Sorana Cirstea

Vekic has not played since Wimbledon. That break might benefit the Croatian, who has struggled for form throughout the year. This match could come down to fine margins between two powerful hitters. Vekic has struggled most in 2025 against players who focus on being solid and extending the rallies. Cirstea will try to match her aggression, which should suit Vekic more.
Prediction: Vekic in 3
