WTA Wimbledon Best Bets Including Anastasia Potapova vs Magdalena Frech

The WTA Wimbledon Championship first-round action continues, and I’m back with more money-making opportunities. Here are my best bets for the first round. Let me know if you agree in the comments. If you would pick differently, tell me why in the comments, as well.

WTA Wimbledon Open

Linette – Jacquemot: Time 12:00

H2H: 1-0

Elsa Jacquemot and Magda Linette only have one other match in their career, and it was at the 2024 WTA Rouen in the first round. Linette took that match in straight sets. This is the fourth Wimbledon appearance for both ladies. Jacquemot’s best finish was a first-round exit in 2024. Linette’s best finish was a third-round exit in 2023. Neither player left the first round last year, and only one is leaving the first round this year. Linette had a semi-final appearance at Nottingham right before Wimbledon, and is in top form because of that appearance.

Best Bet to Make

Linette is a pretty decent favorite in this match. While Jacquemot is 2.63 straight up, Linette is 1.59 straight up. I realize that Linette is 5-5 in her last ten while Jacquemot is slightly better at 6-4, but it’s how Linette has won lately vs. the fact that half of Jacquemot’s wins are here at Wimbledon in the qualifiers. Remove those qualifying matches, and you’re looking at an entirely different person entering this match. I like Linette in this match, and you should play it safe with her.

That being said, winning is a value bet for sure.

Teichmann – Bronzetti: Time 12:00

H2H: 0-1

The only time Jil Teichmann and Lucia Bronzetti have played before was an extremely competitive match at the 2023 WTA Ningbo, which Bronzetti won 7-6, 6-4 in the first round. Both ladies are making their fourth Wimbledon appearance, but neither has gone beyond the first round. That’s going to change, but both ladies would need to have an extremely against-type performance to go much further than the second round. When it comes to recent form, both ladies are struggling. Bronzetti is just 2-8 in her last ten matches. Teichmann is only slightly better at 4-6.

Best Bet to Make

While Bronzetti is technically the favorite, nobody is going to have much confidence going into this match. I would think that Teichmann would be in a slightly better headspace, since she has won more recently, but you have to counterbalance that with her 4-12 all-time on grass. Bronzetti is 7-10 on grass, but hasn’t won since last year. The books say Bronzetti at 1.77, so I’m going to stick with that.

That being said, Bronzetti winning is a value bet for sure.

Potapova – Frech: Time 12:00

H2H: 0-1

Anastasia Potapova and Magdalena Frech met one other time at the 2024 Toronto WTA, with Frech taking a 2-1 victory in the first round. This tournament couldn’t come at a worse time for either lady, as both are struggling mightily. Both ladies have gone as far as the third round in their three appearances at Wimbledon. At least Potapova is 2-3 in her last five matches while Frech is 1-4.

Best Bet to Make

Potapova is a slight favorite in this match, but the gap between these two is .14, so don’t feel like you have to stick with my pick. There are a decent number of matches where the players are struggling and the odds are okay, this just happens to be another. I’m rolling with Potapova because of that recent success, but I want to note that Frech is 39-29 on grass, whilst Potapova is 15-12.

That being said, Potapova winning is a value bet for sure.
