WTA Wimbledon Open
Sakkari – Blinkova: Time 12:00
H2H: 0-0
Maria Sakkari and Anna Blinkova have never met before Wimbledon. While both ladies have three previous appearances at Wimbledon, neither has ever made it past the third round. Sakkari has two appearances in the third round and one first-round exit. Blinkova has a different experience every time, with a first-round exit last year, but a third-round exit in ’23, and a second-round exit in 2021. Both ladies played in three grass tournaments leading into Wimbledon, but it’s Blinkova who had the better outcomes.
Best Bet to Make
The best reason I can surmise as to why Sakkari is the favorite on the books is that she’s slightly better on grass in the overall sense. Sakkari is 31-25 overall, and Blinkova is 28-27 overall on grass. But even that doesn’t make much sense because Blinkova is 4-3 this year while Sakkari is 2-3 on grass. I think the smart play is to take Blinkova in this match. She’s in better form and has at least two quarterfinal showings at tournaments this year, while Sakkari has one back in January.
That being said, Blinkova winning is a value bet for sure.

Starodubtseva – Jones: Time 15:30
H2H: 0-1
Yulia Starodubtseva and Francesca Jones have only played once before, and it was at the 2024 WTA San Luis Potosi in the first round. It was a straight set victory for Jones, but the match was extremely competitive, ending 7-5, 6-4. Jones has been crushing the ITF tournaments, with victories at Vacaria and Prague 2. Outside of a semifinal appearance in Cancun, the WTA-level tournaments have been a harder nut for Jones to crack. Starodubtseva is also having a frustrating year. Her furthest run in a tournament this year is a round-of-16 appearance at WTA Madrid and a third-round appearance in the French Open; every other tournament is either a qualifying round loss or an early exit.
Best Bet to Make
Jones is the favorite in this match for good reason. Not only is she in better form right now at 6-4 vs 4-6 in their last ten matches, but she also has a tournament victory in there, even if it was at Prague 2. Momentum and confidence are everything heading into a Major, and Jones will have the added benefit of being a Brit in Wimbledon. Starodubtseva just doesn’t seem to be playing with a load of confidence right now, whereas Jones has to feel pretty darn good heading into this match.
That being said, Jones winning is a value bet for sure.

Bouzas Maneiro – Seidel: Time 12:00
H2H: 0-0
Jessica Bouzas Maneiro and Ella Seidel have not previously played. Wimbledon will be their first match, but neither lady is a stranger to Wimbledon itself. Bouzas Maneiro has two previous appearances at Wimbledon, and last year marked a career-best third-round finish. She will be hoping to improve upon that, while Seidel has already improved her career-best. Last year was her first appearance, and she didn’t make it out of qualifying. Neither lady is spectacular on grass; in fact, they have almost identical records at 5-5 for Seidel and 5-4 for Bouzas Maneiro
Best Bet to Make
Bouzas Maneiro is the favorite in this match, and for fairly good reason. At 22 years of age, she’s the elder stateswoman in this match. Seidel is only 20, and this is her second showing. That said, I’m not going to be shocked if Seidel wins. She has played in two other grass tournaments before Wimbledon, and she’s having a much better overall year than Bouzas Maneiro. Even then, Bouzas Maneiro isn’t having an awful year, and her two quarterfinal appearances in Rabat and Rouen might be indicative of an in-season turning point.
That being said, Bouzas Maneiro winning is a value bet for sure.
