ATP Mallorca Day 4 Predictions
Corentin Moutet vs Daniel Altmaier
Head-to-head: Moutet 4-1 Altmaier
Corentin Moutet has been playing some solid tennis on grass this season and did well to win the match after dropping the first set against Pedro Martinez in the first round. The Frenchman needs one more victory to tie his record of four grass wins in a season, which he achieved in 2023. Daniel Altmaier, meanwhile, got his first win on grass in the first round as he defeated Fabio Fognini in three sets. Altmaier is a former quarterfinalist here, but he has lost four matches in a row against Moutet, and the record of both players on this surface suggests that losing streak will continue for the German.
Prediction: Moutet in 3

Alex Michelsen vs Brandon Holt
Head-to-head: first meeting
Alex Michelsen cut a frustrated figure against Daniil Medvedev in Halle last week as he was unable to shake off the Russian player in a straight-sets defeat in the quarterfinal. However, it was a positive week for Michelsen all the same with two solid wins over fifth seed Francisco Cerundolo and former-world #3 Stefanos Tsitsipas. In a draw less heavily stacked with top-10 talent, the American will be looking to go further this week at the ATP Mallorca Championships. The third seed will start his Mallorca campaign against compatriot Brandon Holt, who got his first tour-level win of the season in the first round the Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi to back up two impressive wins to come through qualifying. But this will likely be a challenge too far for Holt.
Prediction: Michelsen in 2
Roberto Bautista Agut vs Bernard Tomic
Head-to-head: Bautista Agut 2-1 Tomic
Former finalist, Roberto Bautista Agut, made a slow start against Tomas Martin Etcheverry, but raised his level when he needed to and ultimately ran away with it to win 5-7 6-3 6-2. The veteran has found some good form in recent weeks back on what is probably his favourite surface and looks like he is capable of making a title run this week. The lesser-spotted Bernard Tomic scored his first first main draw win since 2021, rallying from a set and a break down to beat Rinky Hijikata, displaying the sort of fighting spirit conspicuously absent from most of his career. This pair last played in 2019, so it’s hard to read too much into their past encounters, but Bautista Agut is the more solid player and should be the man to advance.
Prediction: Bautista Agut in 3

Ben Shelton vs Learner Tien
Head-to-head: first meeting
This should be an exciting first meeting between two of the future of American tennis. Top seed Ben Shelton has lost four tiebreaks in a row, resulting in two frustrating losses. Despite his great serving, other big servers have been out-performing him in the crucial moments, something he will need to improve on quickly if he is to enjoy any success over the next three weeks. However, he doesn’t have to worry about that against Learner Tien, who doesn’t have a big serve and is quite inexperienced on this surface. Shelton should get back to winning ways at ATP Mallorca.
Prediction: Shelton in 3
