Nick Kyrgios returns at ATP Halle

2025 Wimbledon: Four Players Withdraw From Event

The 2025 Wimbledon Championships will begin on June 30th. On the men’s side, recent French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz will attempt to win a third consecutive title, while Novak Djokovic has another chance to match Roger Federer’s eight titles. Four men have already withdrawn from the iconic grass-court tournament. This article names those players and their replacements on the entry list.

Which Players Have Withdrawn?

Nick Kyrgios was the first player to withdraw from Wimbledon. The 2022 runner-up at SW19 announced he would miss the entire grass-court swing due to a setback in his recovery from an injury. Kyrgios returned at the start of 2025 after only playing in one tournament in 2023 and 2024 due to severe wrist and knee injuries. Unfortunately, he has struggled to get through matches without wrist pain during his comeback.

Sebastian Korda was the second player to withdraw from Wimbledon. Unlike Kyrgios, he has not given an official reason for his withdrawal. The American also removed himself from the Queen’s Club Championships entry list before that without providing an explanation.

Kei Nishikori will also not be playing at Wimbledon. The 2014 US Open finalist had been enjoying a solid run of tournaments after a few years of struggling with a very serious knee injury. Sadly, Nishikori has another injury issue. He last played at the Geneva Open, retiring in the round of 16. It is unknown when he is likely to return to professional action.

Alejandro Tabilo was the final player to withdraw. The Chilean announced on social media that he had a grade-three abdominal muscle tear. Due to the severity of the injury, Tabilo is unsure when he will be back competing on the ATP circuit. He created headlines in April by defeating Novak Djokovic at the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters.

Who Replaced Those Players on the Entry List?

Ethan Quinn took Kyrgios’ place at Wimbledon. The 21-year-old began his grass-court swing by losing in the opening round of qualifying in Halle. He will try to perform better on the iconic lawns in London. Christopher Eubanks replaced his compatriot Korda. The American is well known at Wimbledon after making a surprising run to the quarterfinals in 2023. That included a memorable five-set quarterfinal triumph against Stefanos Tsitsipas before losing in the same number of sets to 2021 US Open winner Daniil Medvedev.

Billy Harris is on the entry list due to Nishikori’s decision to withdraw. The Briton made his Grand Slam main draw debut as a wild card at last year’s Wimbledon, losing to Jaume Munar in the opening round. This year is the first time he has automatically qualified for the main draw of a major. 2017 Wimbledon runner-up Marin Cilic is the final player to enter the 2025 main draw. Although the Croatian is no longer in his prime, he is probably a player most will want to avoid in the early rounds.
