French Open Men’s Singles Day 2 Predictions including Jannik Sinner vs Arthur Rinderknech

With 24 matches on the slate, there should be plenty of entertaining tennis on day two at the French Open. As ever, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match, including Carlos Alcaraz vs Giulio Zeppieri, Casper Ruud vs Albert Ramos Vinolas, Taylor Fritz vs Daniel Altmaier, Holger Rune vs Roberto Bautista Agut, and Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry. But who will advance?

French Open Day 2 Predictions

Jannik Sinner vs Arthur Rinderknech

Ilemona: Jannik Sinner is expected to cruise past Arthur Rinderknech. Even with the French crowd behind Rinderknech, Sinner’s form and dominance should see him through in straight sets.

Prediction: Sinner in 3

Damian: Rinderknech’s form is a complete mess this season and he’s coming up against the second favorite for the title here. Maybe in the shorter format there would be a chance for the Frenchman to fire up for a set and apply pressure, but here, even if that happens, Sinner will have so much time to adjust and recover.

Prediction: Sinner in 3

Tope: Arthur Rinderknech’s victory over Jannik Sinner in the Lyon quarterfinal four years ago feels like a distant memory now. The Italian has risen to the acme of men’s tennis and this will be a certain victory for him, what is uncertain is the scoreline.

Miomir Kecmanovic vs Sebastian Baez

Ilemona: Sebastián Baez is a slight favorite over Miomir Kecmanovic at the French Open, thanks to his stronger clay-court game. Expect a tight match, but Báez should edge it in four closely contested sets.

Prediction: Baez in 4

Damian: Baez losing in the opening round of all three clay court ATP 1000s was such a disappointment after he’s been dominant in the Golden Swing for two years in a row. It’s not that Kecmanovic is in good form right now, it’s just more about Baez having very little to feel confident about and usually not showing up at the big events.

Prediction: Kecmanovic in 5

Tope: Argentinian Sebastian Baez has surprisingly won just a single match in eight attempts on his preferred clay and squaring up against Kecmanovic he hasn’t defeated in two attempts signals an ominous outcome. However, this will be their first match on clay and I expect the diminutive Argentine to end his winless streak on the biggest stage on his preferred terrain.

Prediction: Baez in 5

Filip Misolic vs Bu Yunchaokete

Ilemona: Bu Yunchaokete’s higher ranking and recent wins give him a slight edge over Filip Misolic. Expect a competitive match, but Bu should come through as the eventual winner.

Prediction: Bu in 4

Damian: Misolic qualified and won a round at Roland Garros last year, despite it being overall a very poor campaign for him. Now he’s in much better shape and should be looking at this as a winnable opportunity. Bu impressed in reaching the Turin final, but the favourite here is pretty clear.

Prediction: Misolic in 4

Tope: One of the toughest matches of the day to call, especially as the Chinese youngster has proven he is capable of playing well on clay. That being said, Filip Misolic’s vast experience should give him an edge in this one that could go all the way depending on Bu’s fitness.

Prediction: Misolic in 4

Camilo Ugo Carabelli vs Jaume Munar

Ilemona: Jaume Munar arrives at the French Open with low confidence after a poor clay season, but his experience and familiarity with the surface still make him a slight favorite over Camilo Ugo Carabelli. Carabelli is in better form and has improved significantly this year, making this a tight and competitive first-round match. Expect Munar to edge a close battle thanks to his grit and past success on clay.

Prediction: Munar in 5

Damian: If this doesn’t go above the three-hour mark, we riot. What a classic clay-court contest and whoever wins will have to go through hell physically. Munar started the year so well but has been struggling to translate the aggressive improvements back to his favorite surface. Ugo Carabelli seems a touch more trustworthy at the moment.

Prediction: Ugo Carabelli in 5

Tope: Another difficult one to call between two capable clay courters. The Argentine is on the edge of breaking into the top #50 after some solid performances this season. Jaime Munar too has scored some huge wins this season, including wins over Lorenzo Musetti, Ben Shelton and Daniil Medvedev. They’ve both traded wins in their head-to-head but I’ll go with the silkier Spaniard to earn a gritty win.

Prediction: Munar in 5
