Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in action ahead of ATP Acapulco.

ATP Hamburg Day 3 Predictions Including Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Gael Monfils

The seven remaining first-round matches will be played on day three at the ATP Hamburg Open on what should be an entertaining day of tennis in northern Germany. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the slate – but who will advance?

ATP Hamburg Day 3 Predictions

Sebastian Baez vs Camilo Ugo Carabelli

Head-to-head: Baez 3-0 Carabelli

Last year’s Hamburg Open semifinalist. Sebastian Baez will begin his campaign against his compatriot – Camilo Ugo Carabelli. These two have already met three times this year, all on clay, with Baez winning each time. Given their history and knowledge of each other’s games, this matchup promises to be a competitive one. Baez has lost 5 of his last 6 matches since reaching the final in Bucharest. Carabelli, on the other hand, made the semifinals of Challenger Turin last week, beating some good players. Form is not on Baez’s side, but he has a mental edge in this encounter, which should help him win.

Prediction: Baez in 3

Flavio Cobolli vs Vitaliy Sachko

Head-to-head: first meeting

Flavio Cobolli has not been able to maintain consistency since winning the title in Bucharest and will be looking for some match wins heading into the French Open. This is the ideal first-round encounter for the Italian against an inexperienced opponent. Vitaliy Sachko lost comfortably in the second round of qualifying against Aleksandar Kovacevic and is through as a lucky loser. Cobolli should get the job done in straight sets.

Prediction: Cobolli in 2

Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Daniel Altmaier

Head-to-head: Altmaier 2-0 Auger-Aliassime

Felix Auger-Aliassime is on a five-match losing streak, and one of the losses was against his first-round opponent, Daniel Altmaier. The Canadian is yet to win a match on clay this season and, for that reason, opted to play in Hamburg for the first time since 2020. Altmaier is in much better form on clay, and playing on his home soil will give him an extra boost. The conditions are slow here, and if Auger-Aliassime’s serve percentage drops, he will be in big trouble. Expect the German player to extend his win streak against the Canadian.

Prediction: Altmaier in 3

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Gael Monfils

Head-to-head: Davidovich Fokina 1-0 Monfils

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has been in great form this season and shouldn’t mind his early exit in Rome. He will look to build some momentum this week and peak at the French Open. Gael Monfils withdrew in the second round of Madrid due to injury and didn’t play in Rome. The Frenchman has played some inspired tennis this season, but his fitness will be a big question mark in the upcoming days. Even if he is healthy, this is a very tough matchup for him.

Prediction: Davidovich Fokina in 3
