ATP Masters 1000 Rome quarterfinals
Hurkacz – Paul: 15.05.2025 13:00 CEST
H2H: 3-2
Hubert Hurkacz has won three of his last five matches. This week in Rome, Hurkacz won the opening match against Martinez in straight sets. He trailed 2-5 in the second set and saved one set point but turned it around. In the third round, Hurkacz defeated Giron in a roller coaster match in three sets. His most formidable challenge happened today in the semifinals. After spending three hours on the court, the Pole defeated Mensik in three tight sets. He trailed 0-3 in the deciding set tiebreak but turned it around.
Tommy Paul has won four of his last five matches. This week in Rome, Paul won the opening round match against Bautista-Agut in straight sets. He served great, but he did not offer any breakpoints. His most formidable challenge was in the third round against Machac, winning in three tight sets. The American was a better player in the deciding set and won deservedly after spending almost three hours on the court. Paul upset de Minaur yesterday in the 1/8-Finals. He was immediately broken in the opening set but reacted quickly, winning in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Paul is the favourite in this matchup, and we agree. He was dominant throughout the whole week. Hurkacz had a favourable draw this week, but he still struggled. We expect Paul to dominate and win easily.
That being said, Paul winning in straight sets is a value bet.

Sinner – Ruud: 15.05.2025 19:00 CEST
H2H: 4-0
Jannik Sinner has won 27 straight matches. He is returning to competitive tennis after serving a three-month suspension related to anti-doping procedures. This week in Rome, Sinner won his opening-round match against Navone in straight sets easily. In the third round, he defeated de Jong in straight sets. Sinner lost his serve twice against the Dutch but still won in straight sets. Yesterday in the 1/8-Finals, Cerundolo put up a big fight against Sinner but still fell short, losing in straight sets.
Casper Ruud has won nine straight matches. Last week in Madrid, Ruud won the Masters 1000 title, defeating Draper in the final. This week in Rome, Ruud had to fight hard against Bublik in the second round. After losing the second set 4-6, the Norwegian served great in the third round and deservedly won. In the third round, Berrettini retired mid-match against Ruud. Today in the 1/8-Finals, Ruud defeated Munar in straight sets, saving both breakpoints.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Sinner is the favourite in this matchup, and we agree. The young Italian kept his level even after the suspension. On the other hand, Ruud played several tough matches in the last couple of weeks. His 1/8-Final match was postponed so that he would rest less than Sinner.
That being said, Sinner winning in straight sets is a value bet.
