Julia Riera and Francesca Jones are set for a rematch just days after their semifinal match on the ITF Tour. The two clay specialists will battle for a spot in the second round at the WTA Bogota. We also predict the rest of the Day 2 matches in separate articles.
WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions
Cristina Bucsa vs Leonie Kung
Head-to-head: Kung 1-0 Bucsa
Bucsa has a 10-10 win-loss record in 2025. But the clay-court swing is her favorite part of the season, where she can break that parity. Kung is an all-court player and has some solid results on clay. She owns more titles on the surface than Bucsa, which is surprising. Bucsa, however, has tested herself against the WTA’s elite players regularly, and the rankings attest to her improvement.
Prediction: Bucsa in 3
Julieta Pareja vs Maria Jose Sanchez Uribe
Head-to-head: first meeting
Pareja and Sanchez Uribe are both making their WTA debuts, and this is a massive opportunity for a spot in the second round. But despite their lack of match experience at this level, this is still a mismatch on paper. Pareja is more accomplished than the Colombian as a junior (top-20 ITF junior ranking).
Prediction: Pareja in 2
Leolia Jeanjean vs Kathinka Von Deichmann
Head-to-head: Jeanjean 1-0 Von Deichmann
Jeanjean is coming off a runner-up finish at the W60 Vacaria in Brazil. It’s the third time she’s lost a final this season. Von Deichmann lost in the second round of the same tournament. With a tight turnaround for recovery, Jeanjean might be vulnerable, and Von Deichmann has a potent game on clay.
Prediction: Von Deichmann in 3
Julia Riera vs Francesca Jones
Head-to-head: Jones 2-1 Riera
Two years ago, Jones’ semifinal run in Bogota was one of the stories of the season. She couldn’t replicate that feat last year after a three-set defeat to Laura Siegemund in the round of 16. Riera has the higher ceiling on clay with more big titles and deep runs, but lost to Jones this past week in an ITF tournament in Brazil, which the Briton would win by defeating Jeanjean in the final. The week in its entirety was not physically taxing for Jones and should be fresh, but her concentration levels could dwindle here.
Prediction: Riera in 3
